Researchers today continually make efforts in trying to figure out how children develop through our environment. Some of this can be explained through interactions that are called heredity-environment correlations, which is, individuals’ genes for which you are exposed to may influence your environment. According to Sandra Scarr, children develop by three kinds of genotype and how their heredity and environment are correlated. The first is a passive kind, in which the parents who are genetically related to the child deliver a rearing environment similar to the parents’ genetic disposition. As early as I can remember my mother stressed how taking care of yourself will lead to a happy life and her genetic predisposition was passed on to my siblings and myself. This defines the passive genotype correlation. I found myself throughout the years becoming increasingly curious about being fit from watching my mother workout on her new home fitness machine. In turn as I aged and realized that being fit was something I took interest in, my mother gradually bought more weight training equipment more suitable for a males needs and in no time part of my childhood garage was a now a small weight room. The next genotype called evocative explains the types of experiences I had due to who I was and my genetic make-up. In the physical world, everyone is different and you will evoke different responses depending on types of skills that you possess. For example, I was always very good with electronics and people who knew me could speak to me about setting up home entertainment systems or car audio and know I would have good input for them. The feedback that I receive is very different than those who fail at such

    For the infancy stage nature could be seen as responsible for the developing of the child. The chromosomes from both the male and the women would determine the child’s physical features. It would determine their eyes, hair colour, and facial features e.c.t Cherly would have inherited 23 chromosomes from her mum, and 23 chromosomes from her dad. This means she would have a mixture of both of the parent’s aspects. This would have affected her physically because she would look like both of her parents. It is said that the smarter the parents, the smarter the child will be due to genes. However this could be down to nurture. If the child has very supportive parents and attentive parents when it comes to learning (nurture) then it might have an effect. For example, if the parents were to sit and interact with the child, it would get their brains thinking logically. Also, if the parents were taking the child to play group, he would be influenced by the other children to be active and develop new skills. It would also help the child socially because they are learning to interact with the other children. It would build confidence and self-esteem. Although, even before starting playgroup the child could be very sociable. E.g. not minding to go to strangers. This would be seen as a genetic factor as the child hasn’t had a chance to learn how to be sociable yet. Consequently, if a child’s parent was not a very sociable person and was very withdrawn from people, the child might imitate the actions from his/hers role model and act the same.     These factors can impact you before and after birth. In “ The Science of Success” author David Dobbs uses dandelions and orchids to represent two differnt kinds of peopel. The dandelions represetn genes that make us, “as hardy as dandelions, able to take root and survive almost anywhere”(Dobbs,1). However some of us are more like orchids that are fragile but if taken care of properly can blume to the most beutiful flowers. Researchers started to study this theory and wanted to see whether kids with a risk allele for ADHD would respond as much to positive neviroments as to negative.     In a Passive genotype-environmental effect, the genetically related parents provide a rearing environment that is correlated with the genotype (genetic makeup of an organism) of the child. A child's environment is correlated with their genes, which correlate with their parents' genes because he or she is making decisions likely from their own preferences. Passive genotype-environmental effects cannot interpret the direction of effects in parents-child interaction, but also cannot interpret the cause of those effects in biologically related families.
