She threw her whole life away for someone she barely even knew. Media found out that Jason wanted to obtain the Golden Fleece and helped him pass all the hurdles to do so. For this, she murdered her younger brother by chopping his body into pieces. This made her father not want to pursue her due to her malicious actions. Medea was happy in a way because this gave her the opportunity to elope with Jason and not have her father the king of Colchis come after her. She knew he would be distracted with the sacred funeral for her brother for him to go searching for her. Medea left her wealthy life behind in order to be with Jason.
