Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument is one of the world’s most significant marine conservation sites and a place of incredible cultural significance to native Hawaiian islanders. In fact, it’s so important it was designated a UENSCO World Heritage Site in 2010.

The native Hawaiian proposal would expand the nearly 140,000 square miles of land and Pacific Ocean by FIVE TIMES, protecting more than 7,000 marine species – 1/4 of which are found ONLY in the Hawaiian Archipelago.
