For example, Hermia states “O hell! to choose love by another's eyes” (1.1.142). This line describes how the Hermia is being forced to love by someone other than herself. And she is saying this to her actual love Lysander since they are very passionate lovers and do not want to part. Afterward, Lysander say to Hermia “There, gentle Hermia, may I marry thee; And to that place the sharp Athenian law Cannot pursue us” (1.1.163-165). This shows the action made by the lovers, because of their passion, they decide to disobey the law, on top of that it brings the two lovers into the forest where they will be followed and eventually affected by the love-in-idleness flower that Oberon passionately uses.
