Hard Rock became known as the rebellious subgenre of Rock. Hard Rock musicians would live a life of drugs and alcohol. They would also smash their instruments on stage after every concert. Although the musicians were enjoying this rebellious life style, they faced many hardships as a result of it. For example, many musicians became drug addicts or alcoholics. Some of them even died due to taking too many drugs or drinking too much alcohol. Since Hard Rock was the rebellious subgenre of Rock, it attracted the majority of the youth population.
