Paul Revere's Ride By Longfellow

In Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, Paul Revere’s Ride, the overall structure is important to understanding the poem’s true meaning. This poem is narrative poem, which means that it is written like a story in poetry format. The plot elements are important to the structure, because the setting lets the reader know where the characters are. The conflict is what the characters are facing. The resolution is the conclusion the characters find to solve the conflict. In Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s “Paul Revere’s Ride” on line 13 it states a place called ΅Middlesex village” is a sign of s setting, others also see another setting, as an example they use the old farm or tower as an example of a setting. The setting helps readers feel like
they are in the scene of the poem. The other type of element is the conflict in the story. The conflict is the problem that the character faces in throughout the whole story. The conflict in Longfellow’s story is that the Redcoats are trying to invade Paul Revere's land. The reason the Redcoats are trying to invade his land is because the Continental Congress had an idea to make a place called The United States Of America, sadly the British didn’t like the idea and they wanted to started to attack Boston. The other important element in a story is the imagery the author uses. Imagery is what makes the reader feel like they are in the story. All throughout Longfellow’s story he uses words that make the reader feel like they are in the story. Longfellow uses all types of imagery words or phrases is the story. The author uses these phrases to help add on to their details or ideas of the poem or story they wrote. The most important element of Longfellow’s story is it’s resolution. The resolution wraps up the whole story and ends the story. The resolution is the solution that ends the conflict , the resolution is also the point when they figure everything out.
