Throughout this journey I have accepted my strengths, weaknesses and personal characteristics while revealing concealed qualities. There are several tools such as StrengthFinder assessment to help with the process of identifying yourself, the outcome of this assessment was five themed strengths of my personality. Reviewing the results, I came across a connection between two strengths that collaborate with each other – restorative and deliberative. Restorative is being adept at dealing with problems, figuring out what is wrong and resolving it. Being deliberative or meticulous is an instinct and a part of brainstorming process to reach a solution and preventable measures to avoid recurrence as evident in the text “identify the dangers, weigh their relative impact, and then place your feet deliberatively. You walk with care” (Rath). Boiling down, handling issues or making major decisions deliberative and restorative are essential factors. Evaluating the results of the assessment which determine your competence of emotional intelligence I was in disbelief and sensed inaccuracy. Emotional intelligence is broken into four areas: self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness and relationship management. Starting with the lowest scored area of all – social-awareness, the ability to perceive or pick up emotions of others. As an introvert, I truly am an observer – I speak when necessary, if I’m not speaking I’m watching and making mental notes. The flaw with my social awareness is I speak when necessary, I do not take initiative; I can tell if an individual is upset or having a difficult day but I will participate as a bystander instead of acknowledging and addressing. Above social awareness comes self-management, which is quite ironic; self-management is described as “what happens when you do act or do not act” (Bradberry and Greaves) as mentioned earlier I have a tendency not to act or use my awareness to behave positively or accordingly. I do not manage my emotions or reactions to people or situations – I observe and withhold. In second place of the four is relationship management the ability to manage socialization or interactions. As an introvert I have the capacity to engage and exchange laughter in conversations, but unfortunately, I’m more at ease within my comfort zone,
