Imagine you and your co-worker – same position, same hours, same qualifications, same gender, and overall very similar – get your paychecks back and they got paid 1,000 dollars while you get paid 770, 690, or even 550 dollars for the equal amount of work. That doesn't seem fair now does it? Most of you probably would say no. So, let's change it a little bit, same scenario, but this time you are either a minority sex or race compared to your white coworker, is that fair? Guessing most of you will say no again. In, the year 2017 the wage gap between genders and races should not exist, but it does.
Women are most of the time paid less than men. The gap between the salaries has not made any improvements since 2007. …show more content…
They say the "77 cents for every dollar a man makes" is simply because women work less time and overall have lower paying jobs. You practice as hard as you can, with girls, with boys. You have a dream. You fight, you work, you sacrifice to get to this stage. You work as hard as anyone you know. And then you get to this stage, and you're told you're not the same as a boy. Almost as good, but not quite the same. Think how devastating and demoralizing that could be." -Venus Williams. I think this quote speaks volumes about how hard your teen years effect your strive and personality. We need to inspire girls from a young age they can do anything a boy
