Pentagram Symbol

The Pentagram simply is a five pointed star created with one continuum of a line. Picture the way you were taught to draw a star in grade school. Each point is associated with an element. The top is the 5th element, akasha. Akasha is the spirit element. The other points are of earth, fire, water and air. If you move clockwise on the pentagram(following the akasha point), the elements are demonstrated as followed: air, fire water and earth. The symbolism does not end there. If set with the point up, like a traditional star shape, it represents protection. If it is pointed down, it represents the horned god, it even looks like horns upside down. It is a religious symbol of witch craft and what I personally believe and practice. I will use the shape and the idea in my altar building and my spell building. I will hold it dear as it represents essentially all that is and will be, all coordinated together. It is religious and spiritual symbolism that is applicable to me. The term, pentagram is extremely important to understand. One reason is to understand the difference between pentagram and pentacle in spiritual symbolism within the Pagan and Wiccan religions. The idea was that clothing can interfere with magical workings and to be more comfortable in our natural form working the the gods and goddesses. Skyclad isn't an inherently sexual thing, more so to be comfortable with our own selves and also to create a sense of intimacy in the group. There was no clothing of ranking or wealth, equaling everyone. You can be skyclad in personal rituals as well. In modern Pagans and Wiccans, the use of skyclad is a split one. Some participate while some do not. Again, the use of skyclad in modern Pagan and Wiccans is varied. Skyclad is simply ritual wear, the only thing is it is your own skin. Various Christian religions have a ritual wear of sorts. Both have significant purpose and feeling to the wearer, the experience and the purpose of the ritual. In my own practice I have not worked with skyclad. I have been increasingly interested in ritual wear however so skyclad is something I will not rule out as an option and addition to my practice in the future. I am solitary practicing right now but if I ever chose to practice with a group or coven, having a strong stance on way or another will be extremely important. This as well as the ability to state and practice without skyclad if I so choose. I will have to keep in mind though as a solitary where I would practice and how to do so in a safe
