Different kinds of Fabric
SATIN
This type of fabric has a shiny surface 0and a dreary back. Satin is usually made from silk, nylon or polyester. This fabric is smooth because it has a good concentration of floats (series of missed interlacing), wherein the warp yarn is positioned on top of the weft yarn or the other way around.
VELVET
This type of fabric is neither light nor heavy. A lavish fabric peppered with a cut pile that truly stands up plump is made with a silky smooth filament fiber for a shiny look
Moire
This corded fabric is created from silk or man-made fibers, with distinctive watermarked curvy pattern on its surface
BROCADE
This weighty and jacquard-type fabric has an exquisite pattern or flower design
DAMASK
Another jacquard type fabric is Damask. Usually lustrous and silky, Damask is made from linen, cotton, rayon, silk or blends. The beautiful patterns of this type of fabric are reversible and typically flat.
CREWELWORK
A decorative form of embroidery using wool and an assortment of different needlework that follows design outline applied to the fabric. Crewelwork is usually made from linen or cotton.
