Perineal Pain

The pain experienced by parturient women during delivery is often reported as most severe during the 2nd stage of labour. Many parturient women fear this pain and doubt their ability both to cope and to deliver their baby vaginally. (Hodnett et al. 2012) Perineal pain is a common symptom among mothers that may occur during 2nd stage of labour and following childbirth and persist beyond the postpartum period. It is debilitating and affects the women' mobility. Many parturient reported pain when sitting, standing, walking, and while taking care of the baby or breastfeeding.
