Northern Illinois University College of Business introduced a program to develop learning objects among students. The BELIEF program, Building Ethical Leaders using Integrated Ethics Framework, increased student’s awareness of ethical issues and strengthen decision making among the ethical issues. The BELIEF program was believed to enhance the student’s ability to recognize and identify decision and their alternatives. The “Mom test,” is just one of the many ways the Building Ethical Leaders Using Integrated Ethics Framework (BELIEF) Program at the Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Business (COB) hopes will instill an ethical mentality in its students. The team decided that in order to successfully integrate the program throughout the College of Business, the foundation must consist of three important stakeholder groups (faculty, students and corporate sponsors) in addition to the strong support of administration. Due to the generosity of the Dean and the corporate sponsors, a full-time director was hired. The Director coordinates all BELIEF activities. The College departments and programs are all represented on the BELIEF team. Corporate sponsors currently include AT&T, Caterpillar, Experian, KPMG, Microsoft, National Bank & Trust, and Nicor (Lawrence). Corporate partners provide significant strategic help as well as financial resources. Once convened, BELIEF members created a mission and vision statement. Both statements were carefully crafted to work in concert with the Northern Illinois University College of Business’ mission and vision statements and the College positioning statement. This signals the importance and centrality of BELIEF to the success of the College (Bishop). It also strengthens internal and external partnerships, as well as paves the way for the program to promote a culture of ethical behavior Open and honest dialogue among all stakeholders on the issue of ethics in business education is an important component of the program. The College promotes an
