Personal Connection: Music Composition Analysis
Reflection/ Personal Connection: My musical composition portrays my emotion when I am running in a race. Before a race begins, my heart pounds and there is anticipation. Therefore, the beginning of the musical composition utilizes the Ghostly Sub Bass.1 and Shaker 01.1 to depict that anxious feeling I have. The Ghostly Sub Bass sounds like my heart thumping loudly, due to nervousness, and the Shaker resembles the adrenaline I have when the gunshots fire and I have to race out of the starting line. After these beats, the Shine Bright Piano.4 begins to play and this resembles my calmness as I get into a comfortable fast pace. The beats progressively pick up with the Brass Brigade Beat.1 and the Rev it Up Beat.7. This quick transition illustrates the pain and the quickness my feet as I have reached the half-way point of the race. The second section of the song, Section B, describes how quickly my feet pick up from the ground as I end the race with a big fight to the end. This quickness is represented by the Irreversible Beat.1, the Next Wave Bear 01.1, the Rattle Reverse Topper.1, and the Aggressive Stance Bass.1 beats because they …show more content…

I felt like it was longer and dragged on to the point of anticipation on what would happen next. However, this could have been improved if I shorten Section A and made it the same length as Section B. Another weakness that my musical composition portrayed was that the instruments were not evenly spread out, and some instruments lasted a longer time than others. For example, the Shine Bright Piano took up the almost the entire first section of one minute and eight seconds, while the Shaker only took up three minutes. In the end, my musical composition ended up a lot better than I expected. This was the first time I have ever used GarageBand and I thought it was remarkable. I will continue to use this audio software and create more musical

At b21 these emotions burst through, as the piece becomes forte and 2/4 from 4/4. This faster feel reflects the lyrics “cannonballing” and there is a sense of the piece cannonballing and escalating. The following bars use accents on beats to make the metre feel like 3/8 not 2/4 which increases movement as the beats are being driven sooner.…

In music, I compare my troubles and tribulations with the lyrics. Towards the middle of the piece, it begins to build up. When I was around 9 years old, my mom passed away from failure to receive a liver transplant. This hit my family hard and to this day, we are still haunted by the day God took her away. Since this is the middle of the piece, it's starting to have emotion and deep feelings within it. Anger, hurt, and sorrow was what I was feeling when my mom passed away. I was confused and mad at the world. I didn't quite understand why people had to die since I was only 9 after all. There was always a question of why and to this day, there still is.…

The title that lends its name to the album, Animated Cycle, is divided into three parts, all of them shaped with a piano-bass-drums configuration. The first part is introspective and sorrowful, the second one creates an intriguing setting that balances the lyrical and the percussive sides, and the third sounds ample and vague, slowly catching sight of an air bubble to breathe.…

Paragraph 7 Tempo and Dynamics: The tempo and dynamics for the first song are all fairly similar. It is mostly all slow and a medium loudness, while in the second song the tempo and dynamics change all the time. It is quiet at one point and then gets louder and more people are singing together to give a much more powerful feel. The values of each are reflected on tempo and dynamics in both periods because it is slow and boring in the first song so that the message is clearly displayed while in the second song it is louder and somewhat faster while being a lot more…

We all want something out of life and most of us have a plan for our lives and where exactly we want to be in 5, 10, or even 20 years. However, most of the time, those 5,10, and 20 year plans do not work out as we expected. We go through triumphs and tragedies; we grow and learn; and we eventually realize that what we have planned is probably going to change because we have changed. Over the course of my life, I have changed in a variety of ways and have overcame a number of challenges. I’ve made plans for my life and most of them did not work out, but looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.…

The Creative Song Assignment was an interesting assignment, because I have zero experience in mixing music. It was an interesting experience, because it did take me out of my comfort zone. When I first started, I felt lost. I had no idea what I was doing, so I decided to do a little research to see how I can best complete this assignment. I finally settled on using a program called Audacity and the genres of hip hop and alternative rock.…

A reckless driver zoomed down the wet and slippery roads. His car was shaking as his speakers blasted the thundering growls, the biting guitars, and the thrashing drums. He was angry that he couldn't keep his car clean. It had been raining all week making his pride-and-joy ugly and dull, it made his blood boil which wasn't a difficult feat these days. So he was dealing with his anger the only way he could at the moment. His music, he said, helped him relax. She knew he was lying. Sitting in the passenger seat her heart was racing almost as fast the senseless percussion in the pseudo-demonic band. The music made her feel vulnerable when he drove this way in this kind of mood.…

In the songs “Jolene” by Dolly Parton and “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, we are shown two women’s take on infidelity. One perspective shows us a woman’s vengeance, and her reaction to being betrayed, but does so in a way that is light-hearted and slightly comical. The other paints a much more personal and vulnerable picture, it’s Dolly’s plea to the “other woman”. Both of these perspectives are easily relatable to the listener, because we have all felt broken, we have all felt vengeful, and we have all felt the breath of fresh air after you pick yourself up.…

Music is a key factor in my life, now and has been for as long as I remember. Music is one thing that can control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and soothing harmonic atmosphere. Music allows me to control how and what I want to be, or represent. Music is almost like picking out a favorite outfit. When one picks out an outfit to wear they most likely pick an outfit that expresses them and how they are feeling at that direct moment. They have the ability to change shoes, accessories, or their hairstyle to make it appealing to their particular desires, just as one has the will to change a song on their ipod, or flip the channel on a local radio station. Recently, my life has been undergoing many changes. I am now starting to apply myself in a way that allows me to develop my potential and show forth the results as an outcome of the pursuance of fulfilling my aspirations. More than ever now I am starting to realize that “you get out of life what you put in”. Life is dependent only on “what you bring to the table”. If one tends to put in minimal effort then one should not expect to experience a great aftermath. I have chosen three songs that apply to my life right now in the stance that I am currently in. Its ironic that all of these songs are from different genres, songwriters, and generations but, they somehow tie into my life perfectly. The main theme of the “soundtrack of my life” is “overcoming obstacles and changing that are essential to the growth and the perseverance of an individual”.…

In Payton’s story, the ‘drums pound’ and the increasing speed of his car punctuates the buildup tension, as they get heavier and heavier as the story continues. Usually, in life-threatening or tense situations we can feel as if our heart pounds faster, feeling fear and anxiety. The beat of the drums that Payton hears on his radio excite him, making him feel ‘young, strong and invincible’, saying ’to hell with the priest’ and take his thoughts away from reality- when he hears saxophone, he ‘wishes it would stop’ because it gives him flashbacks from his life, and the things he seems to be running away from.…
