The purpose of these schools is to prepare all of their students for Ivy League undergraduate institutions. Most of the students enrolled in these schools come from wealthy, privileged families and they expect to succeed. The challenge which will arise is the unhealthy expectations students are placed under by their families. Although there are exceptions, many of these students feel that they are not allowed to be fail; because of this stress, students develop anxiety before they even enter high school. Their context for learning is rather strict and rigorous. If I elect to teach in a New England school, I assume I will be expected to emphasize historical philosophy while downplaying certain religious themes. I also will challenge each student’s privilege and encourage them to see a greater world around them.
Both contextual situations offer positives and negatives, but if I am able to choose, I prefer the New England Independent school system because of their emphasis on academia. The next section of this paper will analyze how I will implement my educational psychology background while educating my
