image and employees must comply to keep employment with FedEx. However under the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, employers are required to reasonably accommodate their employee's sincerely held religious beliefs (UPI, 2001). Companies must use a strategic brand image to create a competitive advantage for their products and services. Most of the time this includes dress codes and personal appearances, which companies review and portray the best appearance in which the interaction with the customer is a positive experience. In recent times tattoos and body piercings have been brought up as being discriminatory to the employee. However, companies are allowed to create a policy for the employee to cover the tattoos while at work and if the item cannot be covered then termination is possible. The only exception would be if this was determined to break the Civil Rights laws or Disability acts, in which the employer would need to accommodate, unless the exception creates an undue hardship or provide unsafe work conditions (Bethel University, 2013).
