The morning workouts went a bit like this: Wake up. It is 7 AM. Run 5 miles as the cold blue sky mocks you with its easygoing nature. Maybe flip a tire or two, go nuts. Rinse and repeat, day day after day after day for a couple of days. For some, that’s probably not too challenging, but for a chunky little 8th grader it was a bit of a struggle. Just a tad. All the other people were superstar athletes. The toughest of the tough. The first day, the very first workout even, I wanted, no, needed, to quit.
