Personal Narrative About Homecoming
Homecoming “Life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.” – Charles Swindoll. My high school years were the best. My freshman year I did very well in school. I made good grades and I played sports. My favorite sport was always volleyball. I’ve always dreamed of playing volleyball since I was in elementary school. We did well that season but did not make the play – offs. We were sad, but our coach told us to cheer up and that there always was next year. That same year I met a good friend named Mia. Shortly after we became best friends. We did everything together. We even went on vacations and other events together. We had spent the whole summer together and the next school year was coming fast. I really wasn’t prepared …show more content…
They had different events for each day of the week. The first day of the week was themed crazy sock day. Mia and I really didn’t come around to it at first but since it was for the school we did it. Mia wore SpongeBob socks and I wore Patrick socks. Everyone had crazy socks on. The next day was twin day. With that idea in mind, Mia and I dressed up as twins since we looked almost alike. My mom dropped us off at the Mall of Louisiana that night so we could shop. As we looked, we seen a variety of things to wear. We found a store that made shirts. He made the shirts for us for free since he was an alumni of the school. After we got the shirts we found matching pants. Then we found shoes that matched the shirts and pants. Everyone was amazed of how we looked. We took a few pictures with a few people then went to class. The next day of the week was nerd day. In addition there was a contest for the best dressed nerd. Mia said she wasn’t doing it. I agreed with her decision. I was already upset that the homecoming dance was coming up and I didn’t have a date. But my mom told me not to let that bring my spirit down and that I should dress up. All I wore that day was suspenders and my school uniform. People bugged me all day asking what’s wrong. I told them and they told me the same thing my mom said. I told myself that since tomorrow is the last day of homecoming week, that I wouldn’t let it bother …show more content…
They text said homecoming with a question mark at the end. I thought it was one of my friends trying to prank me. I asked them over and over to stop messing with me, but they said it wasn’t them. The number texted me again saying, “I’ll pick you up later on so be ready”. I got dressed and waited patiently for about a hour. I heard a knock at the door, and it was this guy that I liked but was nervous about talking to him. I was nervous but also in sort of a shock. He told me to come and said that he was going to show me a good time. Now, I was very excited. We went to the dance, and we danced almost all the night. After the dance we went to the football game. We made it to the game around halftime. Our team was winning by twelve. The game was very intense but we won by three. At the end of the day I had a great time. Finally, my week was complete. I would say it was the best week I’ve ever had. I really appreciate my friends for helping me make it through the week. I enjoyed the time I spent in high school. But, I decided to come to Job Corps to further my education. I made this change for the

Back in summer of 2014 all of our friends were so excited for the new year. We were going to be in 8th grade, at the top of the food chain at our Junior High. Not only were we excited about all the different things we were going to be able to do as 8th grader, like take chinese or year round spanish if you're into that. But what we were focusing on the eye of the prize, the 8th grade dance. The best part about this dance was that it wasn’t any ordinary dance, everyone had to be dressed up in nice clothes or otherwise they would be asked to leave. This…

First off, trip to Vietnam was truly a blessing. I did not expect so much of the trip until the first day I arrived Vietnam. On my first day, I got an opportunity to meet many great people who were selfless; those who cared more about others rather than themselves. It took approximately 14hours in total to arrive at hotel. Even though the plane ride was only about 5hours, since it was a group trip, it took extra time to ensure everyone is in right place. Despite the exhaustion and drowsiness, no one complained but encouraged others. I was already touched by grace of God before we even began our mission trip. On the second day, I volunteered for the medical service. There were two activities including the medical service, and house painting…

At exactly 6pm the bell was rung which signaled to everyone that dinner was now ready. We all piled in to eat an assortment of chicken, rice, vegetables, and salad. After dinner a bunch of the girls, including myself, sat on the dock letting our feet dangle down by the water and sharing stories trying to get to know one another better. I was surprised to find that a lot of us actually had a lot more in common, other than being in the honors program, then I would of imagined. Later on that night we all gathered around a camp fire enjoying our smore's and anticipating what the next day had in store for us.…

After going over everything on the agenda, our Link Crew coordinator announced we had something we needed to celebrate. She read a letter from one of our guidance counselors at the school. In the letter she described how a parent emailed her a few weeks before school started to tell her that her daughter has anxiety when it comes to new beginnings. She said her daughter stayed home from school her first week of middle school because she was so nervous. However, her first day of high school was a magical experience for her. The parent explained how her daughter was bouncing in her seat at the dinner table describing what a great day she had. Our Link Crew director announced whose group she was in, and sure enough, it was…

Upon joining my sorority earlier this semester I never would have thought I would be dancing and making a fool out of myself in front of hundreds of people on Green Street. Here I was though on November 1st, after practicing for at most three days with the other girls and Hockey team, ready to get on stage. My grand big is a dance major so she convinced me to join the Spurs and Struts team because they did not have enough people and I have a hard time saying no. This performance ended up being one of the scariest, but most fun experiences I have ever had. During Spurs and Struts I had lost my dance partner last minute so I had to dance a part alone. Also, I could not grab my rally towel that was tucked in my leggings so that was embarrassing…

Growing up I would always listen to my dad speak of his war stories, but I never fully grasped the meaning of what it all meant. As I got older, I was able to understand his words about his time in the Vietnam War, from near death experiences to his most thrilling moments of life. My dad always follows up his life experiences and adventures with “But you have to do well in school, go to college, and get a good job, because unfortunately I was unable to.” Following the war, my dad and his family moved to California and he was thrust into work as a manicurist. Being that young men were forced into recruitment during the war- my dad, a college student at the time, was enlisted into the South Vietnam army and thus was unable to finish college.…

In a black Nissan car a girl and her mom sat, supposedly talking, “Mom, I’m going to make a fool of myself, can’t I just go to my old school?” I pleaded my mom. “Don’t say that you’re going to make lots of new friends. Just try in out” my mom replied to my pleading. I had come to west middle after going to a private school for six years and I was very nervous.…

Soldiers are our warriors; the people that fight for us, our nation, and our freedom. They are the ones that make this country strong. Today, my family and I went to the mall for Back to School shopping, and all I have to say is it went the absolute worst way possible. As soon as we stepped into a JCPenny, my mother darted for the most plain shirts you will ever see. They were all the same too! It was a tacky plaid, two-buttoned tee with a butterfly collar. She didn’t notice I didn’t like it until she looked over at my uneasy face. “What? It’s only $20!”, she said. I explained how everyone poke fun at me, and how my rep will lower in the rankings. “You’re barely a junior in high school. What rep are you talking about boy?”, she replied. For the next hour and a half, it was the same problem. My own mother picking the ugliest clothes. To add insult to injury, I asked for some nice new Adidas, but she got me Zips. Zips! Those are the most embarrassing shoes you can own. She clearly saw my disgusted face, so she came up with an idea. “Since you don’t like your shirts or your shoes, what kind of pants do you want?”, she said. At first, I presumed this was actually something wonderful, but I spoke too early. I told her I wanted some high-water jeans from American Eagle. She then said they were too expensive, so she said we would get them from WalMart! Does she want me to get bullied? “Don’t argue with me boy. You said you wanted these jeans, so don’t…

Ugh… the pep rally. A place where stupid 8th grade boys come to see 8th grade girls shake their stuff. I hate it, but my mom always forces me to come. “Honey, it’s good for you to build school spirit.” “Oh Bree Bear, just go and have fun with your friends.” I just went to make her happy, but honestly sometimes I have a bit of fun. Okay, maybe sometimes I have a lot of fun. But you know what, that’s not the point. This time the cheerleaders were doing a new cheer. Instead of saying To the San to the Diego to the Bears, (Our school is San Diego middle, and our mascot is the bears,) they were saying,” To the D, to the A, to the D, since it was Father’s Day tomorrow. I had completely forgotten about that, because, well, I don’t have a dad. I mean, I obviously have to have a dad,…
