I constantly heard stories about how the people there were such a burden or rude. Even if this was the case the overall attitude about the job lead me to believe ageism was to play. In my opinion people shouldn’t do a job where communication with people on a regular basis is a necessity yet you commonly refer to them as a burden. Simply if you put negative energy in something you will be getting the same energy out as well. Mind you the facility he worked at was with terminally ill older people however, that is no excuse for laughing or making snide comments about these people. No one should feel like they are being pushed out of a job and not given the proper chance to thrive. Because these several people above resonated with me so differently on a monumental scale I want to launch The Grey Matter initiative. GMI will help people who might be suspected as falling victim to elder abuse or improper treatment in healthcare facilities. GMI’s mission statement is as follows: To break things down for people who simply don’t understand the golden rule that states simply treating people the way they want to be treated.
