We headed to that building and a young guy, who was studying internal tourism was our guide. Alexandra and I were the only two people in the tour, so it was kind of a private exhibition for the both of us. The first thing the tour guy said to us is that it was very important to know the difference between frogs and toads. The first ones have soft, moist skin that looks viscous, while on the other hand the toads are drier, have short legs and a rougher skin that looks very bumpy, like warts. He also explained to us that frogs mean a lot to Panama, since we are one of the countries with the largest biodiversity on the planet with 200 different species. This can be manifested culturally since previous cultures, whether for religious reasons or their tribes, fed on frog legs, or ancas de rana in Spanish. He also told us that our national frog, the golden frog is in fact a toad and does not exist in a natural state anymore, only in a state of captivity because is in extinction.
