Personal Narrative Essay On Turkey
It was a cold and crispy morning, darker than the blackest night. The clouds covered the moon it was four o’clock, I had just got done eating my favorite cereal which is Rice Krispies of course. I went to put my clothes on, they were a little wet from last evening we went out. As I put them on, my face cringed from the coldness. I walked out the door to the four wheeler and brought it over to the camp and waited for my grandpa to get out of camp. Once he got on the back me and him were off, it took about ten minutes. To get to the spot in the pines, it was under a huge pine and about 100 yards in from the dirt road. By that time it was five o’clock, and almost thirty minutes until hunting time! Once I got a loaded the 12 gauge I waited for …show more content…
I turn to my grandpa and tap on his shoulder and say “Grandpa look, it's the turkey!” then he looks back and sees it and says “WOW! That's a big one!”. I wait patiently until the turkey goes behind this tree and get the shotgun and aim toward the turkey. It was about twenty five yards away, I was shaking and the gun was moving everywhere. I took a deep breath and waited for the turkey to pop out. Here it comes out from the tree when BOOOM! I feel the recoil from the powerful shotgun hurt my shoulder. Then I sprint towards the the turkey while its flopping everywhere, I yell “grandpa I got it!”. He starts running over as well, in my ind I'm thinking now what! My grandpa comes over and snaps it's neck, I look at it in amazement of how big it is. Then I look at its beard and feel it, it was about 8 inches big and then I notice something strange. It had two beards, I ask my grandpa “Do turkeys usually have two beards?” and responds “No why?”. He looks at it and realizes it had two beards. He yells in excitement about how awesome that is and that in all his years of hunting turkey he has never shot a turkey with two beards. I'm filled with excitement and try to drag the turkey to the four wheeler. But I was to weak to so my grandpa took it over his shoulder and took it to the four wheeler. As we drive home I'm looking at the turkey in amazement and take it to the camp. We took pictures and sent it to my parents

The dogs breath was hot, their faces were covered in blood and feathers as they waited for a drink of water, we picked up our dove and shells out of the powdery dirt field filled with sun flower seeds. With the west Texas sun pouring over our backs it felt like we would never even make it back to the cabin with out the smallest sip of water. We walked on the rocky dirt roads with totes full of birds dragging the butts of our guns as we could no longer hold them up, just waiting for the sounds of our parents vehicles to appear. Just at the time we thought we would have to end up walking miles back to the house the sounds of tires crunching rocks and air conditioner blasting made its way up over the hills. We immediately slumped over the nearest laid down log threw our gear down and watched our dogs crawl to the nearest shade tree, and we waited and waited and waited for the trucks to arrive, as we waited it felt like it took them a fortnight to reach us. As they got to us there was no other thoughts in any of our minds than to get a drink. It didn't matter to any of us what it was along as it was a cool liquid. Reaching into that cold cooler and feeling that freezing cold mist come off the ice hitting us in was the best feeling that we had felt so far that…

Mustafa Kemal’s impact on the modern Turkish state is irrefutable, so much so that he was given the name Atatürk by the national assembly, meaning “father of the Turks”, banning anyone else from using this name. Turkey, one of the few culturally Islamic nations without a Sharia legal system , is often referred to as one of the most modernized states with a Muslim majority . Atatürk is often attributed with the modernization of Turkey, through, amongst other things, social, political and economic reform. Kemalism, the founding ideology of the republic of Turkey, was a series of extensive programs of reform aimed at modernizing Turkey through six pillars, referred to as the six arrows of Kemalism, namely nationalism, republicanism, secularism,…

The Armenian community is very tight-knit, traditional and family centered. Participating in events organized by the Armenian Diaspora, for example, AESA Science Fair (Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America,) Homenetmen Navasartian Games & Festival, and the 100th Anniversary Armenian Genocide March demonstrated to me how powerful the Armenian voice is despite being a minority.…

It was a cold stormy night. The house was still. I was lying in bed when I heard a series of knocks at the door. As I descended the stairs the knocks were getting louder and louder. I thought to myself, "Who could be at the door this late at night?" When I opened the door there was a tall man dressed all in black. He smelled of fish and looked like he just walked out of a mud pit. He was having car troubles and needed to use the phone. I invited him in and told him that the phone was down the hall in the living room. Instead of calling the tow truck he called his friend, George, to come pick him up. I invited him to have a cup of coffee and some cookies while he waited for his friend to pick him up. We talked for about an hour when there was another knock at the door.…

We set up and went to bed early. I could hardly sleep. The whole night is kind of a blur, but the next morning around 5:00, my dad woke me up and we all set out into the darkness. Hiking up to the area where we thought the elk would be, we saw a huge, 8 point bull elk, but it was before shooting light and we had to let him run off. After this, my dad and I found a small meadow in and sat down to wait for shooting light. As the meadow filled with light, we heard tons of shots all around, but mostly down the hill below us, we saw nothing, so after an hour or so, we moved on. After a while trekking through some thick brush, we found a clearing. The cycle of hiking, waiting, and seeing nothing repeated itself a few times. Then, in the closing minutes of daylight, we came across Kotchwar, who had downed a cow elk an hour before. We all headed back to the spike camp. Kotchwar headed back to the main camp, and my dad and me felt some disappointment watching him leave, but this had happened before and my dad had gotten an elk, so we had hope. We made these horrible MRE like things for dinner and went to bed, feeling optimistic for the coming…
