of carrying my five pound spoiled Darla. I knew a shortcut to make the trip back shorter. As we rounded the corner of the road a silver car drives close enough to me going at about 25 miles per hour that this man hits Buster right in front of me. At first I was just in shock as the car just drove off without stopping to help me. My dog yelped really loud and that made me snap back into focus. I helped him to the side of the road knowing I couldn’t carry both of the dogs back home. I told him in a panicking voice, “I will be right back,” and I took off running as fast as I could with Darla in my arms. Tears were rolling down my face. I rushed through the door and had to wake my parents up and get them out of bed to help me. I tried to explain what happened, but it was hard to talk as I was choked up from crying. All that I could get out was, “Buster got hit.” My dad didn’t say a word to me. I could see the anger in his face as he stormed out the door. I just sat down on the couch and in that moment I realized how important it is to show love for the things you care about. You have no idea when something could be taken away from you. This tragedy made me more compassionate and loving for the things I love. Sometimes a tragedy can be eye opening too.
