Personal Narrative Essay: The Day I Left The Jews

I just wanted to say you were right about everything. Ever since you left things have gotten worse. We all just thought that you were crazy or just wanted attention. We were all foolish to not listen to you. Now, I am on a train to God knows where writing this letter to you. What you said was true. Moths after you left the Nazis ordered that all Jews wear the Star of David. It was extremely embarrassing. They had singled us out just for being Jewish. I didn’t let it get to me as I continued my studies. My father didn’t think it was such a big deal so why should I? Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, they did. The Nazis were kicking us out our homes and into a neighborhood filled with terrible housing called the ghetto. We had
Only Jews were among us. You can’t hate your own family and kind, right? A woman named Martha offered us a place to hide in her village. My father declined and stayed. We should have taken her offer. A couple of months later after we had settled down. I felt like this was a tad bit weird how He let us live here but then again who am I to question His motives. The Nazis then came to us and told us we have to move and leave our houses again. What happened next was the most violent thing I had ever saw. Men and Women were being attacked and beaten to near death. Children and babies were being torn from their families. The Nazis had separated us by gender. I was with my father while my mother and sisters were in a separated line. I never saw them again. We were then put on a crowded cattle wagon and then charted away from the ghettos. The cattle ride was disgusting. It was dirty and crowded. Teenagers openly had sex while we just pretended not to notice. We thought we were going to Hungary but the German solider said we belong to Germany now and said he will shoot anybody that tries to run. We remained on that wagon for two days. We were quiet until Madame Schechter began screaming about fire and a
