Personal Narrative: I Believe In Music
I listen to music as much as possible. I have learned that inside music I can find peace. I can often times find myself in tough situations but when I put in my earbuds I feel as if the world has fallen out from beneath my feet. I feel music relates to every situation, feeling, or throughout my life.
I believe in music. Music gives me a companion, it can represent and share my feelings, it adopts human characteristics. Music just like me can be melancholy, depressed, dark, energetic, upbeat, and bright this allows it to become an outlet; allowing me to feel as if there is someone sharing my current mood. When I am depressed I find myself listening to up beat music letting my thoughts fly free in the up beat rhythm and bright melody as it lifts my spirits becoming a crutch. I remember the song I was listening to when a major event took place in my life.
The first time a close family member passed away I was very traumatized until that point I had been so naive to the concept of death my thoughts on life were suddenly uprooted and I drifted into a period of depression, but music was there

Dick Clark once said, ¨Music is the soundtrack of your life.¨ Music is one of the most powerful and influential things in my life. Without the melodies and harmonies of music, my life would feel bland and meaningless. I have a very busy schedule and sometimes it is too easy to lose meaning in my everyday tasks, but with music I am able to keep meaning in my life. I use music to get me through the activities of my everyday life. Whether it is cleaning my room, doing homework, or just relaxing, music makes everything better. I think that music can convey feelings and emotions extraordinarily well. When words cannot do the job, music can. Along with that, I think that music accompanies memories very well also. Going back to Dick Clark’s quote, I think I would be able to make a timeline of my life just using song titles, albums, and…

My love for music began in middle school. At that time, I was socially awkward with very few friends. To compensate, I buried myself in music. My dedication led to many honors and admiration from my peers. However, when I got to high school, my relationship with music fundamentally changed. The arrival of an overly demanding teacher coupled with a long episode of depression robbed me of my passion to play. As time progressed, the pain I felt became too much to bear, and I became desperate for an outlet in which I could express myself positively. My quest led me to music once more, but classical was no longer the genre of choice. It was in hip hop and rap music that I found the will to overcome mental illness.…

As I grew up I found myself listening to Rhythm and Blues (R&B) more than anything else. I feel R&B has a melodic mystery. However, everything from Techno to Jazz captivates me. I think music gives me a unique happiness that nobody understands. I am not certain, but I believe the reason why I love music so much is because it describes to others what your current mood is. For instance, when I listen to Techno, I am in a very happy mood. When in a bad mood, I tend to listen to rock so the tension could go away. When I am getting ready to go to bed, I listen to R&B.…

The age range of the audience was possibly around age 15 to age 80 give or take a few years, most of the people who showed up were college students though the rest was made up, of about 16 or so, elderly couples.…
