artists. Whenever I hear a certain song, it will bring me back to a time period in my life, and I will remember the way that I felt during that time.
Another way that music has had an impact on my life is that music has been a way for me to express myself.
I do not think of myself as a very outgoing person. If you ask my peers and teachers, most will say that I am a shy and quiet person. It has always been difficult for me to get up in front of a class and give a presentation. I did not used to have the confidence to present myself in front of a crowd. When I sang my first formal solo for the Miss Nicollet Talent show, I still was not very confident in myself and in my singing. In spite of feeling that way, I won. After that my confidence and the way I felt about my singing started to change for the better. I started having more confidence in myself and was able to be more outgoing. Winning the talent show also gave me the confidence to sing a solo at the Band and Choir Pops Concert last spring. I was still struggling to find confidence to give presentations in front of my classmates, but singing in front of a theater full of people was not as terrifying. Being involved in music, the past couple of years especially, has improved my confidence levels and has made me more
outgoing.
Music is certainly something that I use everyday and I believe I will continue to use it for the rest of my life. Music gets me through my day by giving the tasks I do meaning. Music has also given me a way to express myself. It also has me stepping out of my box quite often. I am so grateful for everything music has given and done for me. I can not see a better way to repay it by continuing my musical career in college, and in my life after college as well. I can not picture my life without music
