Music influences people in different ways, for me it influenced my life by allowing me to realize that I can express myself through other people’s words. For instance, when I started seventh grade I heard a song called “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. At first, when I heard this song I started to cry because I automatically heard my Dad’s voice apologizing for what happened. This song has influenced my life because it was always there for me when I needed a father’s reassurance. Music has always been there for me when no one was or when I needed advice to keep going. Most of the lyrics have a way of positively striking you in the feelings. For instance, when you are growing up your parents talk about how cute you were when you were born, my Dad would say that I looked like a bowl of sugar because I was so white, and that is why when Tim McGraw says, “ I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.” These lyrics express that from a young age parents have always loved their child, and that they will always be there for them.
