Personal Narrative: Jacqueline Galapon
I am Jacqueline Galapon, a junior at Monache High School. We were given an extended date of the field trip paper to October 30th. We went to astonishing places such as San Simeon and Moonstone Beach on Saturday, October 24th, and what I saw was just beautiful and breathtaking. It is amazing what lives in the ocean, what lives in just the tidepools.
At San Simeon, there was a huge collection of Elephant Seals and it was very interesting to see the E- Seals vocalizing, sparring, flipping sand on themselves, scratching, and sleeping. When the E- Seals were sparring, it looked like they were head-on fighting, when they were just developing skills for real life challenges when they are old enough to mate. The size of their bodies is really tremendous,

My maternal grandmother Shirley Rae Harrington grew up during World War Two. But despite the war, she lived a somewhat normal childhood. When she was young there were very few other children in the area to play with and her younger sister, Sissy, was paralyzed. So she often played by herself in a stream nearby. Her family also owned several horses, chickens, pigs and a billy goat. Surprisingly she didn't get into much trouble as a child, except once when her family was down in our properties Maryland. People were racing speedboats in the creek, so she asked a neighbor who her family knew if she could go. He said yes and took her in his own boat when they got back her parents were fine but Mimi was upset with her. Her first travel experience…

On Monday, January 30, 2017, I interviewed Veronica Galvez and through the interview, I learned about Veronica’s life, her experience in the communication program, and her life outside of the program. Through this report, I will interpret her responses to a serious of questions that guided her to inform me about her life, her experience in the communication program, and her life outside of the program. I want to note that my interpretation of her responses may not be exact, still, I hope to depict the true Veronica Galvez.…

I went to the Art Museum of South Texas to take a look at the artwork they had on display there. I found that they had an exhibit called Liquid Light and it included black and white photographs of the sea and its inhabitants. In this exhibit there were works from 10 different photographers and while I loved and developed an appreciation for many of the photographs on display the one that caught my eye was the “Diving Humpback whale” by Wayne Levin (born 1945). This paper will focus on why Wayne Levin takes photographs of the underwater world and why the “Diving Humpback Whale” photograph was my favorite.…

I’ve never wrote in a diary nor have a planned on it, but I feel that my experience should be shared with everyone. My name is Edith Goldberg. I was born 1928 in Teschenmoschel for most of my life which is a small village near Kaiserslautern, Germany. My family were farmers that lived in a small village of about 200 people. The village had a very small Jewish community… It used to be bigger, but over time people either had left or died. From what I remember I had a normal, happy childhood with my parents and sister. I remeber my family and I would be hay-making in the summer and tobogganing in the winter. My family always stuck to the Jewish traditions. Man, Those were the goodtimes. I also remembers a time that wasn’t all that good, which…

I moved from Detroit, MI to Ypsilanti, MI, for a better living. It was December 29, 2008. I had just given birth to my daughter. My daughter was born at 9:45p.m, weighing 5lbs and 3ounces. I named my daughter Saphira Parthenia Franks. Saphira died at 36 weeks, due to still born. The doctor told me” Sometimes this happens without a reason and you will be able to have more children”. I already had my mind made up, that I would wait until I turn thirty to have another baby. I was heartbroken and disgusted with myself. I was already going insane from the deaths of my father in November 2006 and my grandma in July 2008. Therefore, I was not able to cope with their three deaths at once.…

Kathleen: My full name is Kathleen Caroline Muck, which, in my opinion, is a bit of a mouthful. I don’t hate my name, but I don’t really like it either. Kathleen and Caroline each seem like names for little old grandmas that fold tissues to keep in their purse for when they go out. Having a full name may seem kind of cool and professional when you get an award or sign your name, but the moment is always ruined by someone that knows me primarily as Katie snickering and saying Kathleen Caroline in a nasally voice to whoever is closest. Also, I find Kathleen particularly hard to spell when I’m struggling to write in cursive neatly for important documents. For example, if you were to look at my temps, you would see that I spelled my own name wrong. No joke. I spelled my name K-a-t-i-h-l-e-n, and to be perfectly honest, that isn’t the first time I’ve messed it up.…

“I got this! I got this! Just calm down and take position. You have prepared yourself for this race all morning.” “Just take your position and breathe.” “Why is my heart pounding like this?” “Inhale and exhale.” This is normal for UWA freshman Sarah McMillion on race day. She constantly overthinks and worries about her performance. Her nerves even cause her to wake up early to prepare.…

Four years ago, on a normal Thursday school night, I was sitting in my room doing my homework and my aunt came bursting into the door saying my brother was kidnapped. I did not want to believe what I heard and kept asking her to repeat herself. I ran outside of the house and screamed because my emotional pain became so hard that my stomach felt like it was tied in strong ropes and I was ripping apart, I was devastated because my only brother was gone, I didn’t know if I would ever see him again, I did not even have a chance to say goodbye. I was angry at myself, at the people that took him. Life seemed impossible to live during the days he was kidnapped. My family finally came up with the ransom the kidnapers were asking for and through a miracle…

I sometimes find myself gazing off over the giant deep blue waters called the Pacific Ocean. It is as wide and far as the eye can see. The dazzling yellow and orange sun begins to fall from the sky as the day comes to an end, casting beautiful shades of pink, purple, and gold onto the white capped swells drifting toward the coastline. I am sitting the edge of a cliff which once extended hundreds of feet out towards the ocean and has since been washed away from devastating storm surges and treacherous waves. Sunset Cliffs is a place that I come to escape from reality, to dream about the future, and to relax after a long week.…

One very hot summer day I went scuba diving in the ocean. It was so beautiful under the water. There were so many different kinds of fish, plants and other sea creatures. My favourite was a purple octopuses, a school of colour full sea horses and of couse the most magnificent sea turtles. They were huge. One of them was even 3 times my size. I was so fascinated about the beauty of the sea, I lost track of time.…
