Personal Narrative: My Diary Of The American Revolution
The night of April, 18, 1775 I was abruptly woken up by some random man running through Boston yelling “The British are coming, the British are coming!” I was not very happy of getting less than a hour of sleep. This weird man came through around 10:30 PM and woke everyone in the town from there sleep. At first when I heard him say that phase I did not know what he meant by it. I then gathered with my neighbors outside and was told if I wanted to fight the British I had to sign my name on the books in the city hall later that evening. When I went to that meeting later that night they told me to go home get a pound of bread a flask of water and my gun, and to also get a little rest and when the drums sound go stand on the green. So I went home and rested a little and then said my goodbyes to little Johnny and Benjamin. Until we all heard the drums. I then went with my …show more content…
We stood there for a while until we heard drum beating and the horses tapping. I started to get nervous about what was going to happen because I wasn't any fighter or hessian that were born to fight, all I wanted was for the colonies to be independent. We all watched the British march up all proud and strong and get in a perfect line. We stared at each other for a while, then out of nowhere someone fires the first shot and everything went insane. People were firing and smoke was everywhere, it seemed as if I was in a dream with soft clouds and happiness but no I was in the exact opposite. I needed to get out of there before I died so I ran as fast as I could into the woods where no one thankfully ever found me. I was so grateful that I survived because about 10 did die. I am so thankful for my life now that i have experienced war, war is a terrible thing but it is the only way to defeat the british. I sure hope you join us next time. Just know this is just the beginning and it is about to get a lot uglier. I hope you have had a great

For a long time now our people have been oppressed by the British. The tight grip of their empire on our country can only be loosened by the strength of our people. We have lived in these lands for over a hundred years, obeying everything the monarchy has ordered us to do. It is time for us to stand up and demand the respect we deserve. We as Americans threaten the British, which is why they refuse to let us bear arms. There is no better example of this then the battle of Lexington and Concord. The tension between the people of Boston and the English soldiers is ever growing, more people feel the need to arm themselves and rebel against the British troops. On April 18th, 1775 military general Thomas Gage in an attempt to put a halt to the Boston rebellion sent out his army to the village of Concord to confiscate the arms of the Americans, and to Lexington to capture colonial leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock. The Americans got heed of this, and sent out messengers Paul Revere, and William Dawes to ride out to Lexington and Concord to warn the militia, and have them prepare to defend themselves. Samuel Adams and John Hancock successfully managed to evade capture by the British soldiers, and most of the arms and ammunition were moved to another location. The British were lead by Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith, when they reached Lexington they had 200 men. The minutemen, lead by Captain John Parker were greatly outnumbered having only 70 men. With nothing but their brothers by their side and the muskets on their backs they stood their ground and waited for the British to approach. One of the British majors yelled, “Throw down your arms! Ye villains, ye rebels.” The militias were greatly outnumbered; they kept their arms but turned to walk away. In an account by Captain John Parker he states "I immediately ordered our Militia to disperse, and not to fire: Immediately said, Troops made their appearance and rushed furiously,…

The next morning, I was to report to Logistics and Strategy. People were all over this place. Seaman lined the walls with headsets on and screens in front of them. They used their fingers to tap the screens and then shout out coordinates. I walked down the row of officers scrutinizing interactive pixel maps. They had the ability to visualize the ships and planes in real time with holographic symbols. I passed them and walked up some steps to a clear glass room. TOO THIN, Fernando, Chad, Mallory, and five Admirals were there. One Admiral for each permanent coalition country. There were also a line of officers outside the room, waiting for orders.…

If I had harnessed the ability to travel through time, I would choose to experience 1960’s Washington D.C.. The city was struck with such large amounts of heartbreak, but at the same time, many people had more courage than they’ve ever had. I would spend the first couple of hours exploring the riots on the roads, the segregation present in the shops, and just how people felt in this time.…

First off, trip to Vietnam was truly a blessing. I did not expect so much of the trip until the first day I arrived Vietnam. On my first day, I got an opportunity to meet many great people who were selfless; those who cared more about others rather than themselves. It took approximately 14hours in total to arrive at hotel. Even though the plane ride was only about 5hours, since it was a group trip, it took extra time to ensure everyone is in right place. Despite the exhaustion and drowsiness, no one complained but encouraged others. I was already touched by grace of God before we even began our mission trip. On the second day, I volunteered for the medical service. There were two activities including the medical service, and house painting…

The Civil War legacy still has an impact on Americans today. Today, most Americans look at the Civil War in an awe-inspired perspective. People try to skip over the blood and ugliness that resulted because of it, and instead try to focus on the courage and heroic deeds that soldiers performed. Many today are more likely to view the war as a fight for black freedom instead of for state’s rights, which is what it had previously been known for. The South still seems proud of the Confederate flag, even though it is the cause of a lot of controversy. Some people view it as part of their heritage. Certain topics of the Civil War are still well-known throughout society. Abraham Lincoln, the Gettysburg Address, and the Emancipation proclamation are all examples of what people associate with the Civil War. People try to remember iconic people and images like these, instead of the blood, gore, and hate that took place.…

Welcome you and i are about to take a journey through the revolutionary war and what had happened at this time. In this time life was hard and for normal people it was hard to this war however it was what gave us our rights as our own people. Now think about how it was for the people caught in the crossfire like the civilians this was because the british thought we were playing dirty so they tried playing dirty themselves and did something new this was total warfare this is when the british destroyed anything that helped the colonies including farms and killing people. This new form of warfare was dirty but the colonies played dirty too and used gorilla warfare or ambushing as it is more known as this form of warfare was when you would lead the enemy into a trap and this worked very very well against the british seeing as the british could not see the enemy and could not find the in time to kill the in one case in fact it went like 800 or so british were captured or killed while only 27…

You have expressed yourself so well. Thank you for waiting a day before responding. I too, have waited, not just two days to express my view but months. During these months, I have been caught between” a rock and a hard place”. You see, my oldest will vote for the very first time in our American democracy for president. I feel sorry for him. The first time I voted, I voted for Reagan. Time has advanced to a point where he has no choice. He has to make a decision, with his vote, that is not good either way. He has watched the news, he has listened to his parents along with his American Government teacher. He has also been able to discern for himself. Yet, he will vote. Why? Because we, in our family, believe our country is still great and those…

I stood in the forest, blood pooling around my soaked boats. The battle was over and we’d won the battle, but struggle was so far from ending. I turned my body several times the reality of the situation hitting me. Comrades that stood firm with me against the enemy now lay empty against the crimson red. I trudged through the bamboo, not caring if I stepped on the bodies of the enemy. I couldn’t make out the difference though between the enemy and foe, as blood stained all and severed limbs lay stranded from many. My life started for a second time this was a new start to an entire kingdom.…

The sudden noise of a dog bark, doorbell, loud noise, or a certain smell can trigger the flashbacks from the war. The flashbacks can take me back to a helicopter ride by a small inhale of diesel, or the smell after a tank explodes. Loud noises can trigger memories of my nighttime guard duty and fights against our enemies. These noises and smells would make a “normal” person just jump or not even notice a common smell, but for me, a scare or smell instantly transports my memory back to my experiences in Vietnam. The images I thought I left behind in the war torn land of Vietnam soon become unraveled and vivid in my mind, as real as they were when I experienced them as a 19 year-old boy.…

Some leave by their own accord, while others are forcibly removed from their homeland due to war, poverty, disease, etc. No matter what the circumstances however, we, the immigrants, migrate to this country with the belief that hard work will be the road paved in gold leading to riches.
