When I first arrived at school, I was placed in an ESL class in order to learn the essentials before I moved on. It was easy enough to adapt to but things got really interesting when they finally put me into normal classes for the first time. I could barely speak English, and I didn’t know a single word of French back then. And to make it even worse we had a presentation every Friday in my English class, which to my surprise actually helped me learn English and adapt to it easier and faster than I would have otherwise. Me knowing nothing about the game was an interesting experience, and another opportunity for me to further enrich my ability to adapt. I was mainly a soccer player for my entire life, so adapting to a completely different play style was rather challenging. I got hit a lot since the coach put me in the running back position, so I had to learn that unlike soccer its not a foul if you get hit. I also got a lot of help from my teammates in order to get caught up with all the rules before the season came to a close. Our team made it to the championship that year and I got awarded the third medal of honour for my position which served as a reminder to help me overcome any challenge that life has to offer.
