“Dom, you better be training hard today, because I saw you slack off a little. The fight is going to be broadcasted live on pay per view, HBO” my Coach says
“Marcus dont worry, Im not going to lose. I dropped out of college to get here. We will win this!” I replied
“Good, today we have three amature fights scheduled and the first one is in five minutes so get ready!” said Coach
So I get ready and hop in the ring just as my opponent does. As we touch gloves, he tries hitting me with a quick cross but I dodge and he misses. The Ref does not call it so I know Marcus told this him to allow playing dirty, just to test me. The bell rings, we come out of our corners and begin to circle each other. Staring one another down as we do our walk arounds, searching for weaknesses. As I watch him, immediately I see a straight rookie mistake, his right shoulder is sticking out to far giving me a huge advantage. This is going to help me because once I see his shoulder twitch even a centimeter I will know he is …show more content…
going to throw his right cross. He decides to make the first move by throwing two left jabs at my face to distract me. I block both punches with my gloves and go back at him with a jab and a right cross to try to throw him off balance. It works and he moves back to regain his balance, but his stance is off and he moves his right shoulder out more than before. I see the arm twitch and as he attempts to connect I step into his punch and his arm goes right past my face. Then I show no mercy and unleash a volley of punches onto him and he gets knocked out and goes down. After that I get through my next two fights knocking them both out before the end of the first round. After my last fight I get out of the ring and I start walking to get one of my protein bars and put my gloves in my locker. As I sit down to eat, two guys in suits enter the gym and make a b-line from the door to me. Once they get to me, the guy that kinda looks like a Walmart-brand version of Will Ferral, sits down and tells me, “Hello Dominic, we have an offer for you.”
“Go on” I say.
He continues, “If you drop anytime in the last round, and the current Heavyweight Champion wins we will give you $500,000.”
I thought about their offer and considered accepting it. However if I did except it I would never be able to be a World Champion.
I answered “ Gentlemen I like the offer however I do not believe in giving up so I politely decline.”
I then get up and leave them and start to walk over to hit the bag because I need to practice because there is no way I am going to
lose.
