Personal Narrative: My First Art Prize

One Saturday morning, my family decided that we were going to head to Downtown Grand Rapids and experience Art Prize for our very first time. This being our first year living in Michigan, we had no idea what to expect. Art Prize is a huge art contest and all of the artwork is spread out around Grand Rapids for people to look at and vote for the one they think is the best. As we walked down the street, we saw many different, unbelieveable pieces of art. Soon, I had lots of favorite pieces, but my overall favorite piece I saw at Art Prize was Leu-enkephalin Flow/Fountain of Tears. It was a brilliant piece of art. With lively colors, it was a collection of tiered glass connectors and cylinders, creating a stunning display of water and creativity.
My jaw dropped the second my eyes landed on the incredible fountain. It was fascinating. Everyone around me stared at the art as well, not taking their eyes off it. At once, I was beginning to think of how I could create art this beautiful. This piece inspired me. I thought about how the person who created the fountain must have a very inventive mind to think of this. In my opinion, it is one of the most amazing pieces in this year’s Art Prize because of the bright, fun colors and exquisite detail used in making this piece. Leu-enkephalin Flow/Fountain of Tears was the most inventive piece I saw this year at Art Prize. It filled me with awe when I first laid my eyes on it, and it inspired me to be creative and inventive myself. You should go to Art Prize because it is an amazing experience, and you should want to see all the amazing pieces, especially Leu-enkephalin Flow/Fountain of Tears.
