Personal Narrative: My Grandma's Death Of My Life
I believe that even in hard times or situations you can always find happiness or laughter within that circumstance. An example of this in my life was my grandma's death. My grandma died this past new years and it was a very hard time for me and my family, but there were many positive things that came out of her passing. One thing was my family never really gets together for new years and during that time we were all together, we also have family that live in Tennessee that we only see like once a year, so we got to see them at her funeral. My family also knew that she had given her heart and life to the Lord, so we knew that she was starting out the new year in heaven. While my family was gathered at her house the night of her passing we

Trump wants to end DACA. I think that he shouldn’t end DACA.The DACA program allows undocumented young adults work in the country legally. DACA was an Obama-era program. “The DACA program, announced by President Obama in June, 2012, provided recipients with protection from deportation for two years, which could be renewed, and allowed them to work(Alvarez, 3). I think that Trump is scared of undocumented people and what they could become. If they are continued allowance in the U.S. Immigration Services and U.S. Citizenship gave work to thousands of undocumented immigrants giving them the ability to work, to make something of themselves. The executive branch has legal authority to implement DACA. More than 100 law professors signed a letter…

Per Reporter: “Marshall lives with his Unknown Grandmother. Marshall is intellectually disabled. On today, while out seeing my client Marshall, his grandmother became upset because after having a discussion about who should be the overseer of Marshall’s disability check. I stated to her that if she really wants to care for Marshall, it shouldn’t matter whose overseer of his check. Without warning, she suddenly jumped into her car and started backing up with force and an aggressive look on her face. I told Marshall to move to the side and I jumped in my car, backed up and left. I had to drive at high speeds to get away from her because she was chasing me in her car. I later called Marshall to check on him, he admitted that he felt as though…

My grandfather passed away and it sent my family and i into a turmoil. It was so sudden and fast we knew we had to prepare for our future without him. That day was the first day ever that my whole family and I sat in silence. No conversations, No cracking jokes or laughter, just silence. It was a day of sadness, but as the strong family we are, we lifted each other up and we accepted it and we made a promise to each other that we would never leave each other's sides. That day made me realize how much our family is united and this day put our strength to the test and we didn't let it break us. It actually brought us even…

When my step father committed suicide, it was the most shocking yet influential experience of my life. The whole situation expanded my understanding of mortality, spirituality, and of just how fragile happiness is. I can still remember the day that it happened; It was unlike any other day. I was in school when brother picked me up after lunch. We met up with my mother, and brother at my grandmother's house. The entire atmosphere was off. No one was acting like themselves. Immediately I knew something was wrong, even if their expressions and body language were not obvious enough. After sitting in the living room for what seemed like an eternity, I went into the next room where I found my mother who was crying, and when I asked what was wrong…

As I get older, I grow and learn new things each year and as time goes on I realize that there’s not always going to be times of immeasurable joy and laughter. It’d be nice if there was but that’s not how life is. Happiness that’s present in my life is because of God and how straightforward his word is. As a christian, I know that once I’m saved, there is absolutely no one that can take that away from me. Even when I’m going through the storm, the sure promises of God carry me through. You may ask yourself, “ Why would I want to rejoice over anything when I’m going through the worst of times?” Well, when you take time to realize what’s around you, you come to find that you are truly blessed. Everyone that is in my school and church all have supportive families and christian families. None of us have to deal with communism and we’re free to pick our religion. Nevertheless, some of still choose to complain and be discontent with what we have. Everyone of us needs to take a step back and look at the blessings we have in our lives and cherish the things that make us happy. That’s something that is at the core of my…

Other personal experiences include two of my siblings, both served in Iraq, who were exposed to enemy gunfire while serving. I lost my grandmother eight years ago, who was my rock in every possible way. My grandmother was diagnosed with Leukemia, which she kept from everyone in my family until two months before her death. I believe family stress developed due to her sudden death. Aside from family stress, I personally struggled with my grandmother’s death, who reflected as a woman with great strength and lots of wisdom; who also taught me values, honesty, and community. Further, five years later, in the year 2009, I lost another family member to gunshot violence, who was shot in the head and died instantly; this family member was also…

As people continue to age, they will eventually become “elderly” and enter into the later adulthood stage of life. Elderly people have more time to reflect upon their lives and that’s perhaps why they enter into Erickson’s socioemotional ego integrity versus despair stage. Basically, what defines this stage is that old people will either be within ego integrity and have a positive or accepting nature of their life, including mistakes or they will despair and have a negative outlook on their life full of regrets and should haves that can’t be changed (Arnett, 2012). What this means is that most elderly people will be socioemotionally content or fuel potential anguish which can influence their outlook of life as a whole. Arnett goes on to say that “The physical and cognitive problems that become more common in the course of late adulthood…

Growing up in my great grandma’s generation was completely different than growing up in my generation. Back in the day there were not supercenter grocery stores like Wal-Mart, Shop n Save or Sam’s Club for you to go buy your meals. Everything you ate was made from scratch. Why do you think grandmas always the best cooks? Going to grocery stores and restaurants is typically easier and cheaper but cooking homemade meals with your great grandma is priceless.…

Walking into work I smell the aromas of a nursing home. I hear the sounds of wheel chairs and walkers scraping against the hard wood surface. As I walk to station one, I stop by the break room to store my food. The room is full of people charting the prior shift. Walking out of the room, I continue to station one. Finding the cork board with the neon green paper, I see what hall I am working. There is only my name and one other on spring hall. I know it is going to be a rough night; but at the end, I will remember my goal, which is helping others.…

Suddenly, I woke to the sound of pain and stress. In the dimmed hotel room, my mother was laid roughly on the bed motioning that she didn’t feel well. We had traveled the far and exciting journey to Las Vegas to witness my mom finish a half marathon. It was an event that she had spent minutes, hours, days, and months training for. I couldn’t believe that after all of the work my mom had done in the past year, she wouldn’t be able to compete on the big day. I was wrong though when my mom sat up, tidied her tangled hair and nonchalantly said, “let’s do this”.…

For as long as I could remember my Grandma was my best friend. She learned how to use a phone just so she could talk to me every day. Every time I would go to her house we would play board games and make cookies. In elementary school she would pull me out of class we would go to the park or Olive Garden. Over a span of three years she developed alzheimer's, and it was miserable. Watching someone you love fade away takes a toll on you.…
