John interviewed in early April and they wanted him to start working May 1st. On the drive here, I was surprised by how beautifully different it was in comparison to back home. It was as if I had entered a brand new world, one that needed to be explored. There were so many open fields with miles upon miles of no structures. He was putting in applications everywhere and anywhere that would take one. Within a week, he had an interview with the Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission. He was offered a position on the spot. A huge wave of relief took over our entire house, and I began to feel a sense of hope. I decided that I would stop sitting in my self-pity and I would go to my first A.A. meeting in Mercer County. It was just like being back home, with friendly faces ready to greet me with open arms, smiles, and understanding. I began to believe that this move could end up being a turning point for our family.
