Personal Narrative: My Life In Virginia Beach
I’m from the decent suburbs of interlocked communities that would be willing to help each other in time of need. I’m from the splash and whish below me as the scent of Ocean breeze carries me across the endless Golden Gate Bridge. I’m from the cheerful sound of conversation littering the atmosphere and giving joy to any Californian that comes across it. All the sorrowful yet friendly goodbyes helped my family and I overcome our fears of starting new lives in Virginia Beach.

I’m from an artistic, loving sister and father who both have a thriving passion for art and the origin behind it. All the shapes and forms begin to come together and create a spectacular display of color, shading, but most of all, imagination. I’m from an amazing mom who would be willing to help me during any obstacle that I face, and a four-legged furry friend that always shows his love by gently wagging his tail and breathing heavily. I’m from both serious and comedic family conversations, yet despite all of this, I love

I’m from all the herbal yet effective remedies that my eastern ancestors have perfected over the course of centuries. I’m from all the independently standing food booths that when together, form long, straight rows that cover an entire side of a street. I’m from representing my asian heritage and being proud that I was born this way.

I’m from learning opportunities that also serve as a meeting place for all my friends to socialize as we fill our our minds with valuable knowledge. I’m from reluctantly doing my homework knowing that it is essential for me to have an excellent education. The warm-hearted teachers greet me as I walk to my locker, preparing myself for another day of diligent learning. I’m from the numerous school events with appetizing food and bright faces everywhere you glance. I’m from forever lasting opportunities, and anything that the world puts ahead of

One of the oldest questions in philosophy is whether humans have free will. When I look in retrospective, my journey to Miami makes me wonder is everything predetermined. Ever since I was a kid, I had vivid dreams about a sunny beach, soft golden sand, palm’s waterfall, and beautiful girl who will love me unconditionally.…

Now onto where I am from. I am from Laguna Hills California but I say I am from Mission Viejo since most of my friends and all of my schools were in Mission Viejo. Mission Viejo is located in South Orange County, otherwise know as the “OC Bubble.” It is referred to this by people in the “real world” for its lack of crime and violence. I could see what these people meant, for I had several trips to Long Beach with my dad and I could say it was a very different world. But in Orange county cities like Santa Ana and Anaheim have high crime rates and human trafficking. Enough with that. Mission Viejo…

Throughout my life, I have had to make many choices. Some have been quite simple such as, whether to have a cookie or ice cream, or quite difficult such as, trying to decide where I wanted to go to college. All these choices, big or small, have made me who I am today. Certain choices have taught me lessons about what not to do in life, while other choices have made me grow stronger in my moral character. One such choice was whether or not to take part in my church’s mission trip called Impact Virginia. I had the choice between spending a week of my summer relaxing at home, or outside working on houses for people in need. I can honestly say at that time it was a difficult choice. I had never gone on a mission trip, so I had never known how…

I draw a lot, I always loved art because it came in different forms, and there was never a wrong way to do it. I drew a lot of anime, cartoon characters, and did nature drawings because they are cute and fun, and could express myself without words. When I was in middle school, I played many instruments at Fairview, because the music program is great. I played the handbells, piano, harp, recorder, guitar, ukulele, glockenspiel, and joined show chorus. My family is unique, I don't get along with them sometimes, we could be fine then fight and then be fine, it's weird but we all love each other dearly. We share cries, laughs, anger, and stories. I have a best friend named Nishma, I met her at Hamilton in my World's Studies class, she is really funny and kind, we hang out a lot and share stories about our lives, and we like the same things which make our friendship more fun and she got me more comfortable around others, I'm grateful. When I'm older, I want to be an animator, zoologist or an artist, after years of being confused about what I want to be I've brought it down to three choices for my future…

The day I found out I would be moving from Roseville to Alpena was probably the worst day of my life. I remember the day I found out about the move. Not only was I really upset because I would be moving away from my friends and family, but I was really scared. We were moving to the middle of nowhere, where I knew not a single person. I would be going into my 6th grade year in the fall, my first year of middle school. My brother and I did everything we could to try to sabotage the move, but sadly our plans failed. Nothing could stop this from happening. Everything I knew… was about to change.…

Going to Southern California, no one would think of packing an umbrella. Why would they? California is in the middle of a drought. When someone thinks of California, they think of baby blue skies and palm trees along the streets. But, of course, the weekend my family decided to visit Disneyland, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld is the weekend Southern California experienced what the local news called a “tropical depression.”…

I saw my dad's hunting gear, which were basically his bow and arrow from when he hunted as a young man. Me seeing those arrows, those sharp, pointy, flawless arrows made me notice where I come from. With those arrows I could shoot all the hate, disapproval, bad talk, and so on. I know where I belong. I’m not afraid to go on the tall, absolute beautiful, loving horses, getting dirty with a puddles of mud splashing as i stomp on them hard, and running with a stray dogs of Mexico and Texas. Being able to eat those spicy chiles, the juicy, soft steaks and lamb, and the corn on a cob with lime, salt, and spices on breezy nights. I grew up in Coney Island, Brooklyn in the 90’s. I lived in one of its many New York City housing developments. As a child I can remember the elevators and stairwells of my building smelling rank from urine. I can still see and feel the bullet holes under our mailbox from a shootout that happened under my bedroom window when I was seven. The chain fences that squared off all the grass areas of our complex. I can still see the poorly painted monkey bars, and the wood-chipped seesaws on the black tarmacs behind our building. Across the street and a little more than half way into the block was my second elementary school. I can’t quite remember why I had to leave the first one, but The Surfside School is where I have most of my elementary school…
