As my parents would soon realize, I wouldn’t cry like most children, but instead I would spend my time observing the world around me, so curious about how it worked. For some strange reason, no matter how many toys I had, my mom’s whisk was what I spent most of my time playing with. I would take it with me wherever I went; but with the passing of time, and with my discovery of the VCR and the rewind button, I soon replaced the whisk with Toy Story. I would watch it over and over again, …show more content…
The first one was provided by the ER free of charge, but for them to administer any of the other six shots, it would have cost $7,500 per shot. Instead, the doctors at the ER gave my mom the shots, and taught her how to inject a needle; she had to give me the next six. She recalls that giving me those shots in my puncture site were some of the most painful moments for her as a parent. The following days, I would return to the dog park and play with other dogs. Only four years later, my dad quit his job and moved down here to work for American Airlines. Unfortunately, my mom could not move down, as she couldn’t find a job she liked. My dad was in Texas, and we were across the Mississippi River. Thankfully, since my dad was working for American, he was able to fly up to be with us on the weekends, but only then. While he was gone, I stepped up to fill his spot; I helped around the house and took care of my brother. My life was like this for the next two years, until my mom finally found Parish, and we were a family

the first time I saw my grandmother braid her hair, I was instantly astonished. The way she maneuvered her hands as she glided the hair between each finger, overlapping each strand of hair onto the next, was so delicate and precise. The finished braid dangled down her back, reaching all the way to her waistline, it reminisced that of a princess, from the storybooks I had seen. I knew only after moments of watching her, this was something I had to accomplish; easier said than done.…

As people continue to age, they will eventually become “elderly” and enter into the later adulthood stage of life. Elderly people have more time to reflect upon their lives and that’s perhaps why they enter into Erickson’s socioemotional ego integrity versus despair stage. Basically, what defines this stage is that old people will either be within ego integrity and have a positive or accepting nature of their life, including mistakes or they will despair and have a negative outlook on their life full of regrets and should haves that can’t be changed (Arnett, 2012). What this means is that most elderly people will be socioemotionally content or fuel potential anguish which can influence their outlook of life as a whole. Arnett goes on to say that “The physical and cognitive problems that become more common in the course of late adulthood…

My mother’s parents would always share stories with us about how their parents came to America from Italy and Germany. They would bring out old photo albums and tell us all about how different life was for them and how they held on to family cooking recipes and every Christmas we make the same dishes that their parents would make. My father’s parents would also share stories about Ireland and my grandpa would talk about what he experienced when he was in the war. Unlike the family I interviewed, I was brought up in a Christian household. Every Sunday the whole family would attend church together and then go out to eat after to talk about what we had learned. We would also pray every night before bed and were always told to give thanks throughout the day for the life we have been blessed with.…
