My Mother’s Ideas about Marriage and my own
My mother and I get along pretty well, and the reason is because we have a lot of respect for one another, even though we don’t have respect for each others ideas. We still show each other respect, but we still argue about are beliefs. So for instance, we don’t agree on the same beliefs about marriage, and we express our ideas of getting married very differently. Now my mother thinks everyone should be married, which isn’t right, so if theirs an adult over the age of twenty-five who isn’t married, my mother tries to find someone for them and in her eyes no one is a citizen, a complete person or even a respectable human being,

An organizational structure refers to the way that an organization arranges people and jobs so that its work can be performed and its goals can be met. When a work group is very small and face-to-face communication is frequent, formal structure may be unnecessary, but in a larger organization such as Barnes and Noble, decisions have to be made about the delegation of various tasks. Thus, procedures are established that assign responsibilities for various functions. It is these decisions that determine the organizational structure.…

Most couples when found upon the concept of a wedding are not handed a guide book to a successful loving marriage. Couples appear to have a vague understanding of their commitment to marriage. A long life journey full of unexpected surprises, and adjusting accommodations. Eric Bartels, the author of “My Problem With Her Anger,” contends he feels compelled by the division of household work, and the lack of support from his wife. Such as lack of communication and anger management. Conversely, in “The Difference Between a Happy Marriage and Miserable One: Chores,” Wendy Klein, Carolina Izquierdo, and Thomas N Bradbury describe how different couples within a marriage handle chores, depending on a respect for mutual boundaries, support…

Many wives sometimes feel unappreciated, neglected, and often used; which sometimes may lead to speaking out loud for themselves. This was the case with a woman in the 70s named Judy Brady. In 1971, Judy Brady’s essay “I Want a Wife” was in the first edition of Ms. Magazine; which targeted the inequality that was promised to women at this time. Being as the 70s was a time when women constantly struggled for equality and rights, Brady has some very interesting views on the term “wife.” Brady begins her thought process after hearing from a male friend who has recently become divorced. With him being single, and looking for a new wife; it occurred to Brady that she too wanted a wife of her own.…

Historically, the respective roles of a man and a woman in marriage are different across religious, cultures, and political borders. Even today, different sectors of society have distinctly different guidelines and expectations for the husband-wife relationship. Often what sets apart some societies from others when it comes to marriage is the role that women are allowed to have in the relationship. For centuries, and even in parts of the world today, marriage was treated as a sacred bond, but one in which the woman must honor and serve the man. This was clear in early Eurasia, where society viewed marriage as a way to enforce women's subordination.…

When it comes to school, I guess you could say that my mom was a bit of a nerd. She was extremely smart and exceeded in every class. She went to a Catholic school until fourth grade. She said, about this school, “Not much happened here, I was placed in Reading and Math groups by myself, and no, I was never hit with rulers over the knuckles by the nuns, if you were wondering.” In middle school, she was placed in an advanced class and by the time she left she was finished with all her required high school math classes. She was also inducted into the National Junior Honor Society where she held the office of Secretary. In high school, since she was a big nerd, she took college level math courses and AP in all other classes. She also played…

My mother’s parents would always share stories with us about how their parents came to America from Italy and Germany. They would bring out old photo albums and tell us all about how different life was for them and how they held on to family cooking recipes and every Christmas we make the same dishes that their parents would make. My father’s parents would also share stories about Ireland and my grandpa would talk about what he experienced when he was in the war. Unlike the family I interviewed, I was brought up in a Christian household. Every Sunday the whole family would attend church together and then go out to eat after to talk about what we had learned. We would also pray every night before bed and were always told to give thanks throughout the day for the life we have been blessed with.…

The ideal parent will always put their children’s needs and wants before their own. They will not argue or become violent in front of their children. Parents should not go crazy on their child or over step boundaries. Arranged marriages like in “Why My Mother Wanted Me Dead” will only create an unhappy, and possibly unhealthy rebellious child and future adult. The ideal partner for my daughter Lana should have more good traits, rather than bad. Personality, good morals, relationship between words and actions should collaborate. Lana’s future boyfriend should not just want sex from her. I expect that Lana’s future partner is all of what I mentioned, and that he is capable of talking things out with her instead of becoming violent. I do not want…

In America, every four years there is a presidential election that gives Americans the right to vote. The United States is a role model to other countries of the concept of giving all citizens equal share in the government and the way it is run. The Electoral College ruins the voting and creates an unfair system that is not equal. It destroys the fundamental part of democracy that gives everyone the right to vote. The Electoral College raises the question "Is the United States a republic?". With the Electoral College, it is a winner take all system which makes some votes practically useless. The founding fathers believed that most people were uneducated and would make uninformed decisions and the way news travel has changed. With this system,…

Comparatively, both my mom’s story version and the history’s version are very alike because in my mom’s version she talks about how she remembers the twin towers being attacked by terrorist planes and he knew that many lives were lost during the attack and comparing it on what my research said was approximately about 2,996 people were killed in the terrorist attack. My mother talks about how she felt unsafe at first but then she started feeling safe again and if you compare that part with President Bush adding a new cabinet-level-department which works to protect the United States from terrorism then you can see how Bush tried making the world safer. A difference between the history’s version and my mom’s version is that my mom didn’t really know how the planes got hijacked…

This is my Philosophy on marriage. When I think of marriage I think of a special bond between two people. I believe marriage is a choice among the ones that have a mutual relationship and they want to show other people how much they care about each other. The two make a mutual decision to have a ceremony of some sort and have a government recognize there union and that they share almost every facet of their lives together. Marriage to me means that they will endure good times and bad times together while showing mutual respect towards each other.…
