My Idea:
The inspiration and drive for my project was due to my personal experience with cancer. As my mum was diagnosed with cancer in 2012/2013, her journey has been very close and personal to me. I have always been very inspired by my mum, as she maintained a positive attitude throughout the whole experience. She inspired me to choose my topic for this project as she has maintained hope throughout her journey, I want others to do the same.
For this personal project, I wanted my product/outcome to both spread awareness and support those who are currently going through chemotherapy. I considered many different options for my product, of which I brainstormed onto a mind-map. I categorised my ideas under three main ideas; fundraising, art and informing/spreading awareness. Once pondering over these ideas, I decided that the best way to convey this message would be through art. Thus I wished to create a piece of artwork which depicted inspiration and hope for people experiencing a similar journey.

Out of the six options, I decided that there were two categories which were most appropriate to me; ‘Identities and Relationships’ and ‘Fairness and Development’. Identities and relationships asks questions of ‘who are we?’ and looks into physical and mental health, human relationships and beliefs and values. Similarly, fairness and development asks ‘what are the consequences of our common humanity?’, and explores rights, responsibilities and relationships.
