Personal Narrative: My Red Bike
The date was September 15th, 2011. It was a normal night, and the air was getting colder as fall approached Northern Minnesota. The perfect condition for riding my brand new red bike. I used to always love going on bike rides around the small lake that was just a couple steps from the back door of my house. At age twelve I was a really active child, and riding bike at night was my favorite thing. It gave me time to be by myself and just think about life. My parents never worried about my safety because in our little town of Middle Rock there was a population of only about 200. So when I went missing one September night, no one noticed. I suddenly woke up to an extremely bright white light shining straight into my eyes. Quickly I tried to sit up from my laying position, but I couldn't. Straps were restraining my legs and torso to a cold, metal table. Finally my eyes became focused and I scanned the surrounding room. Where was I? I was sitting in a tiny, unfamiliar place. It was covered floor to ceiling in a silver chrome color, almost like it was made out of mirrors. Looking up I saw …show more content…

I dropped my bike in my front yard and raced into the house. Calling for my mom and dad I suddenly realized that it was a weekday and they would be at work. Being that I was an only child, I was home alone. Quickly, I looked at the clock on the stove in the kitchen, it was 11:02 a.m.. They wouldn't be home for at least six more hours. I started panicking and thinking of all of the possibilities of what could’ve happened to me. Then I remembered my strange dream that I had when I fell off of my bike. Maybe what I thought was a dream was actually a reality. I needed some time to think and calm down so I went upstairs and into my bedroom. I jumped into my bed and tried to get some rest because I hadn’t slept that night due to my bike accident. My eyes were slowly closing more and more and I finally fell

I snap back to reality and notice that my speedometer read 30 mph. I was in a 20 mph zone. I slam on the brakes to slow down. Behind me, a driver lays on his horn to tell me how irresponsible my last decision was. I reach for the radio and turn the tuner dial until I find something upbeat and groovy. As I remove my hand, I begin to hit on the steering wheel like a drum. The steering wheel is black and coverless. It sounds good when I hit it. It is also keeping me awake at the moment. My step mom sat next to me in the passenger’s seat messing around with her phone. She never pays attention to me when I’m driving. I see a curb on the next right turn I have to take. After running over the curb, my step mom glances up to make sure I did not hit anyone. When realizing that everything is fine, she goes back to Facebook on her phone. The darkness of night was exhausting. My eyes fluttered in the beams of the yellow street lights. In a couple of blocks, I make another right turn. Then a left turn into my driveway. I turn off the engine and let out a sigh of relief. I reach for my door handle and pull, eager to go to my bed. My legs wobble underneath me as I stumble out of the truck. I am finally…

The last thing I remember is falling asleep during a late night rerun of the Twilight Zone. So when it happened, it was especially eerie, like I had stepped into a lost episode, but Rod Serling was nowhere in sight; for moment, neither was anybody else. At 4:31 AM a merciless shove pushed me off my bed. I crawled on the floor, trying to escape the cruel, uncontrollable shaking, but it followed me. It followed me down the stairs and underneath the dining room table where my family joined me. Little did I realize that before the morning sun rose again, I would see everything differently.…

I have done a lot of things in my life that has taught me lessons. One of them is More Than Pink. More Than Pink is a summer program to inspire girls to stay true to themselves and live free from social stereotypes. I have participated in it for three years and I will be doing it again this summer. I believe people should accept themselves. A similar lesson was taught when I was disappointed in my body when I saw a thin fit person. I wanted to be like her, so on accident, I exercised too much. The next day, I was really sore and I hurt myself. I believe people shouldn't compare themselves to others.…

Not knowing what to do while you are panicking is one of the worst feelings in the world. Especially when you later realize that you knew that the solution was very simple and WAS common sense. For those who are lucky enough and haven't gone through this feeling, well lets say that your mind is blank and you are paralyzed. I know this feeling very well; it all started when my dad and I went for a bike ride at Rood Bridge Park in Hillsboro.…

When I was in 1st grade I wanted so badly how to ride a bike. I would watch my friends ride their bikes, and all I wanted to do is ride with them. The problem was not the bike, I had a bike. The problem was that I tried, and tried, and tried. Every time I tried, I would fail, and it didn’t feel like I was getting closer to being able to ride my bike. I would get on my bike, and get myself all pumped up, and take off. And within seconds, I would be laying on my face, on the pavement. I was giving up hope.…

Then my Dad walked up next to me and told me that I had passed out in there yard. He wanted to know who I was. I was shocked at first but eventually I told him that I was in town visiting my family in the neighborhood. When I walked out of the house I realized that the flashlight had brought me back in time to the day my parents were killed. My parents will be killed again tonight if I don’t stop the criminal that did it. That night I waited for the car to park next to the house. I snuck behind the car and when he got out I shined the flashlight in his eyes which blinded him for a few moments. That gave enough time to swing the hardest punch I had ever thrown. I hit him so hard it knocked him out. I grabbed the gun that would have killed my parents and threw it as far as I could from the house. Taking one last look at the house, I shined the flashlight on the ground next to me. The numbers appeared again and I picked the day that would bring one back to the present. I saw a flash of light and I was back to my house. My phone started ringing and I answered it. I heard my mom’s voice. She asked me if I wanted to meet her and my dad to eat lunch this afternoon and catch up. I just smiled because I realized that I had saved…

Looking back on those days when I use to sit inside my house while everyone else was outside playing on their bikes, skateboards, rollerblading, I was so jealous that It wasn’t me on the skateboard or the bike; although there came one day that it was me on the bike. I was helping out my pastor at the church on a Saturday and he decided to let me and the rest of the guys come over to his house when we were through. When we got there the pastor’s son Josh was asking us if we all wanted to go outside? So everyone agreed including me, but what he forgot to mention is that we would be riding bikes. So I wouldn’t look stupid I spoke up and said: “Um... Josh I don’t know how to ride a bike. ” As I stood there with a mortified look on my face waiting for him to laugh at me but instead Josh said: “For real? Well I guess we can teach it really quick?” I was shocked because He was the better person who didn’t laugh at me although my other friends were looking at me apprehensively. Josh then stepped back into the garage and pulled out a bike and I had begun to feel nervous and scared. It was the feeling I got when I first rode a rollercoaster my stomach began to get butterflies inside and I wasn’t relaxed at all. Josh began to speak and said: “Before three o’ clock today, I will teach how to ride a bike without anyone’s help”. With him telling me that it boosted my confidence level up by a little amount. Now after him telling me this he began the bike riding lesson. “ Louis the first thing to learn about riding a bike is balance, so put both feet on the pedal while I push” I felt like a little kid but I was most afraid of the other guys laughing at me while he was teaching. Then when I looked around I noticed that the only people around was Josh, his older sister, and myself. “Whenever riding a bike this is the speed it usually is, but on a hill that’s when bike riding is fun!” Josh said. As I was riding the bike it was like I was taking my first baby steps to being able to…

I feel the truck slowly come to a stop and the loud diesel truck turns off. I hear his door open and close, when seconds later, mine opens. I got out of the truck slowly, scared that I might fall and when I do, the smell of freshly cut grass lingers in the air. Still blindfolded, I start walking, with the help of my boyfriend, of course. I guess he really was not paying attention either when all of a sudden I feel him let go of my hand and scream, “stupid tree trunk.” I was confused, so I kept walking when I tripped and fell, landing right on top of him. I get up slowly to make sure I do not trip again, since I cannot see anything. He gets up behind me and grabs my hand again. This time I warned him to pay attention to where he was going and not to trip. As we start walking again, I hear bees buzzing and the fresh breeze blowing. We finally came to a stop and in my head I thought, “Finally.” He took the blindfold off of my face and all I saw was a small blanket lying on the ground. As I check my surroundings with the flashlight that he handed me, I noticed that we were at Prien Lake Park. I grabbed him and hugged him tight, because the park is my favorite place to go, especially at night. I slowly lay down on the blanket and just looked up at the stars just like I had no care in the world. I just sat there for a good while listening to slow country music and just staring at the stars like I had never seen them before, when I hear a huge smashing sound that scared me. My boyfriend packed a picnic basket full of my favorite candy and slammed it on the blanket…

The car accident happened in a Sunday evening back in February of 2011. There was a strong hit at the right side of the back of our car which led the car to swerve to the left, and collide on a passing jeepney. The sad thing about the incident was that the point of impact on my side was strong. I fell unconscious after my head hit the door and I didn’t know what happened next. I only felt that I was regaining consciousness when I was already in a tricycle with my dad. My vision wasn’t clear and I can feel something painful on my face; I was troubled and nervous about what was going on and what has happened. I’ve come to understand it after I woke up in a hospital lying on a bed. I was very confused why I was laid on a bed, why my mom and relatives were around me. It turned out that I was the one they were fretting over. My mom told me about the accident while she was sobbing. My mind went blank; all I can think about was, “How? Why? Is this real?”…
