Personal Narrative: My Spook Tacular Halloween
My spook tacular Halloween consists of three things, which are getting dressed up in my extravagant costume, eating superb candy, and watching “ Charlie Brown and the Pumpkin Patch” with my family. This may sound really fun right, well before I can enjoy my fun Halloween evening, I have a lot to accomplish before I am allowed to enjoy my evening. Normally the first thing I do in the morning is I bring the decorations up from the basement and hang them up. The next thing I have to do is absolutely horrific, that small task leads to a long amount of time spent on actually making this gigantic orange item, and that item is carving a pumpkin. The third and final task I must complete is picking out different assortments of candy with my mom. After

Modern Halloween has become less literal about ghosts and ghouls and more about costumes and candy. The holiday is overflowing with action on its reserved night. Kids are so anxious to drag their parents out the door, show off their creative costumes, and ring their first doorbell for a fun-filled night of trick-or-treating as soon as the dismissal bell for school rings. High school students wait until the whole group of friends is together before they head out into the misty darkness with only the flickering street light to guide them. Meanwhile, adults are sipping on their witches brew at a local party or nightclub.…

My best pecan fest memory was last year when I first rode the Pharaoh’s Fury. When I got on I was getting scared. I got on and there was no turning back. I sat down in the seat and the ride began to move. I thought I was goanna fly out the seat. It was going back and forth and it didn’t stop until it started to slow down. Then it stopped completely. My body felt all wobbly. I got off it was hard to walk. Next I walked over to a ride that I didn’t really know the name of. But it was really fun! Then I got off and decided to ride it again, and again! Next I got bored of the ride, and rode something call Tug a boat. It swayed me and other people back, and forth. I rode it again for no reason. But I got bored…

With Halloween just recently occurring, I thought it was appropriate to write my rhetorical analysis on something that pertains to both the holiday and what it means for many college students in today’s American society. So, after looking through countless pages of different news websites and periodicals, I finally found one in particular that really caught my eye. It was titled “Why Halloween at College Is So Frightening” and it was written by a professor at Emory University named Mark Bauerlein.…

My best Pecan Fest experience was last year. I rode the Zipper with Austen and Hayden for most of the time. My friends and I played all weekend and had fun. We bought lots of confetti eggs. They were very useful when we used them on other people. We also bought silly string and sprayed lots of people. We went on the Zipper at least 10 times. I went on the MI twice. I went on the Pharos Fury a couple times. I ran around the yard with my friends and we rode on lots of rides. I helped my mom with her booth and I got a lot of people to play the game. I also watched my little brother perform on stage. After that I ate some food and then went one the Zipper. I felt so sick after. I got some water and I went home. The next day we went back to the…

Just like most civilized people I dislike bugs. Actually I really hate them! Just thinking about them gets me all itchy and uncomfortable, and yet one summer evening I would find myself sticking my hands right into their dark slimy lair. I swear God has a weird sense of humor at times. But I guess he knew me well enough to know that I hate dead kittens more than those nasty creepy crawly slimy BUGS! This is my story about the night I became a life saver and was able to overcome my fear of creepy nasty bugs….at least for a few minutes.…

On May 7th 2006 I had just graduated Ranger school with my best friend in my platoon. We had both started the school as PFC’s and were immediately promoted to specialist after graduation. We also were moved into team leader positions as soon as we arrived back to our unit. At this point in time most of our platoon has been deployed at least once, either to Afghanistan in 2005 or the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003. Upon our arrival back to our unit we immediately went into training and preparation for our upcoming deployment to Iraq. The unit was set to deploy in November to replace our sister unit operating out of COB Speicher near Tikrit.…

Last week I spent time packing up boxes and moving things around the house. In the process, I started pulling things out of places where I had stashed them for safe keeping, forgetting that I even had these treasured items. While I was in this Spring cleaning frenzy, I opened a closet, no different from an attic or shed, and found an old forgotten box. When I finally managed to open it, a little disaster punched me right in my face, figuratively of course, but it got me thinking.…
