"I told you that Oswald the Rabbit is mine, and I deserve a raise for making Universal Studios so famous," I replied
"You signed over the rights for it, we never stole it!" My boss said
Looking back at that incident that I faced, it helped be to become who I am today. Even though I might have created an amazing character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. I guess that I could say that getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me.
"Where will I go now, I used to be known as the creator of Oswald and now it's stolen from me. I have no money and no job," I remember thinking "Maybe I'll hop on a train to Los Angelos to try to find some better luck."
I was so bored on that train ride, …show more content…
and I'm actually glad that I was, I decided to take out my sketchbook out of my conveniently light bag and doodle a bit. I start d drawing a cartoon mouse that resembled Oswald, but I changed a few little things to make him more special and unique.
"This is perfect!
This could be my new cartoon I'll show it to my wife and Disney Brothers Studio will soon be a worldwide phenomenon." I remember thinking.
My wife loved the character, but once I told her the name, Mortimer, she just said that that was the worst name that you could ever pick. She helped find out a better name and we decided that we should call him Mickey Mouse. Another thing she said was that Mickey resembled my old character Oswald but that just helped me to know that my character would hopefully be as good as Oswald.
"How is this Roger," I asked my brother, "do you think that Steamboat Willie will be good enough for the world to enjoy. After all it is the first sound cartoon that was ever created?"
I was a little uneasy wondering if people would actually like a cartoon with animation and sound all synchronized. It was never done before or even thought of.
"It's perfect Walt," my brother replied, "even if people don't like it, the fact that it is a new idea makes it all worthwhile."
It was the day that steamboat willie would finally tale the stage. I was so worried and yet people loved it.
"Remember the cartoon before the movie, it was even better than the movie"I heard one woman say to her …show more content…
husband
There were so many nice comments that I got from it that it even inspired me to create a longer movie in full animation and sound.
I shared the idea with my brother and he thought that I was full on crazy and decided that he wouldn't help me with it.
"I would never help you if you keep thinking like that. It's incredible that I helped you already but I'm not going to help you with this one." I heard him say last and that was the last time I ever heard him
I worked for months and months and my wife thought that I was crazy for trying to create a full length animation movie with sound. I decided that maybe I should try to add in some real voices in this movie.
"Are you sure that this new movie will make me famous" asked Ms. Caselotti
"Yes," I replied, "voicing Snow White in my new full length movie will surely get you famous but the only thing is that I'm not going to let you act again. Are you ok with that or should I hire someone else?"
"No that won't be necessary, I'm ok with that" she answered
I was kind shocked by her answer but I am still pretty glad she agreed to that back then or else I might have just given up.
"She's perfect," I thought, "maybe I'll draw Snow White to look a bit like
her."
I then worked for ages and I actually felt like giving up but boy am I glad I didn't.
"I'm just going to this movie just for the short films, it's so long I'm probably going to sleep through the animated movie." I heard someone say
I was so worried when I heard all of those comments so I tried containing myself but I remember this one comment that will live with me forever.
"This movie was a pioneer for entertainment all around the world" said one of the kindest people of all time
That will stay with me forever and that even inspired me to create even more movies in the rest of my lifetime.
