Personal Narrative: The Anderson Family
It was four days before Christmas day; and my family (the Anderson family) and I were lost in New York! The bad thing was we were supposed to be at my Grandma Carol and Grandpa Tom’s for early Christmas dinner at four o’clock. It was an hour after. Which means that we were already late; and we can’t call because we weren't in good service… It was the next morning and we had still been lost, we have been walking and driving in cabs for almost 3 days. Our feet had been hurting like crazy! We had stopped for dinner yesterday and haven't eaten anything since. So we are going to stop and get breakfast at the Breakfast Café in New York.. So we just got done eating breakfast and when we were there we suddenly had gotten into wifi and we connected …show more content…
My grandma had not answered or called us back. So we were kinda getting worried that she hasn't called us back. But when we were on our way my mom and dad noticed something that they thought looked familiar to them but didn't look like anything to us but we did remember them telling us about what our grandparents house looked like. So we starred at it and then we thought that this had to be the place. So we went up to the house and there was steps so we left our suit cases and bags at the end of the steps. We knocked on the door, nobody answered. So we knocked again and someone came up to the door and she opened it, and guess who it was? It was Grandma Carol! Where have you guys been? she said. Dad said, we have been lost, did you get our phone call? Yes, she said and I was just about to leave to go drive around and find you guys, but I guess I don't need to …show more content…

My family of orientation is pretty blended, but stayed the same throughout most of my childhood. My family of orientation consisted of my mother, step father (who I call my dad), my half brother, and half sister. My mother married by step father when I was five years old and he was married to my mom until I was about seventeen years old. I took the Family of origin expressive atmosphere scale test and my score was very high, but that confuses me just a little bit. I feel like my family wasn’t as expressive as I wanted them to be growing up. If they were expressive though, it was only because they were angry at one another. If my siblings and I disagreed with my parents, we would be told we were wrong. My mom, at least, has gotten better at…

Laughing we went to the house next door to them as we rang the doorbell when the door was opened, we all yelled “Trick-or-treat!” holding the candy bowl out in front of her the woman pulled a small gift bag and gave it to Sammy. We were all happily chatting as we walked next door, turning to Nathaniel I said, “You should totally put your mask on to scare them,” He agreed and put his hand in his pillowcase and tried to find his mask. His eyes went wide as he realized that he had lost it. When we rang the doorbell, Mrs. Tracy opened the door, she opened it very slowly, there was smoke leaking out the door and she was wearing a costume and held a bowl of candy. After we had gotten candy from her we began the walk to my house. We stopped at houses along they way, not that many, though when we reached the three-way stop my dad stopped us and said we should go to one house before hand. We all went to that house and got even more candy. Then, we walked over to my house. We rang the doorbell and my dad threw open the door and grinned and held out the bowl of candy. “Trick or treat!” we all chorused and held out our bags for candy. My dad laughed and dumped the entire bowl of candy into our…

It had been a crazy morning as I ran all over my house trying to find my jacket and boots. My mom had been admitted into the hospital that morning for a massive headache and all I could think about was whether or not she would be okay. I took her to the emergency room that day before so going to class was the last thing on my mind. My father and sister had agreed to stay with her till I ended class so I was more at ease knowing she wouldn’t be alone. After running all over my house looking for my things I quickly gathered myself to make my train. I finally got to Penn Station with four minutes to spare. I quickly walked to where the rest of my class was as we waited for instructions to where we would…

In the last three days the weather forecast was absolutely wonderful, so my friends and I planned a trip to the local market in order to buy some souvenirs. When we reached our destination the most amazing thing for me was that I had to haggle over the price for every product. Before arriving to the hotel we ate at a restaurant. I ordered a serving of stewed vegetables, which tasted lovely, and lamb that was somewhat bland.…

About three hours later my mother got a phone call from my Grandma. My grandma said, “Brenda, a waitress at a truck stop found Andy’s truck blocking the driveway about three hours ago. She knocked on the door, when he didn’t answer she opened it. I’m sorry but it was too late. Brenda, he’s gone!” My mother just started crying. She didn’t know what to say. My mother woke us up one by one and brought us into the living room. She said, “Dad called tonight, but it was too late. You guys were already in bed sleeping. I’m so sorry I told him no” She started crying again. “Guys daddy died in his truck tonight after I hung up with him” she sobbed .We were devastated. My mother didn’t know what else to say. The house I will forever have embedded in my mind was located in the rural town of Bovina, Texas. This was the house my father and his twelve brothers and sisters grew up in. Every time we went there, I remember driving up and the first thing I saw was a medium sized dead tree with a rickety tire swing hanging from one of the larger tree limbs. The front yard had splotches of somewhat green grass here and there. The walkway to the front porch was kind of old and some of the cement bricks were broken. As you neared the house you got a better look at the house. The right side of the house, right under all the window sills, there were dying flowers. My grandma loved to tend to her garden but since she was getting up in the years, it became harder and harder for her to do so. The paint on the house was old and weathered and some of the bricks were broken and missing which brought out the real age of the house. There was a weird sound that you heard as you entered the doorway that sounded a little like a car that was about to stall out. I later learned that that was the old leaky swamp cooler on top of the house.…

I was five years old and living in a small town in Mexico with my mother. My grandparents live in front of my house. They live in this two-story house made of adobe and brick tiles. The front of the house was fixed to be a half store and living room. My grandparents earn their living with that store. I would go over their house every time I had a chance. I used to sit with my grandma and watch television in the store. People would come in the store and I would talk to them. I would ask the people that came in about their children or grandchildren. It was a small town and everyone knew everyone. I made many friends in my grandma store.…
