Personal Narrative: The Fire Within

Fire Within I hated reading, but in the fourth grade my teacher mislead my parents telling them I was illiterate because I refused to read their stupid book about a velveteen rabbit. I didn’t like reading and refused to do any read in class or for a teacher. After a meeting at the school consisting of my teacher, my parents, and my favorite principal; my mother took me to the school library to get any book I wanted. It took me thirty min. to find a book that I personally wanted to read the first book in The Last Dragon Chronicles, The Fire Within. It had a green dragon’s eye with a scalene shape to it and a tear rolling down its face with a small purple flame imprisoned within as it fell, as if it was flickering the last time. The adventure and mystery hooked me, and made me who I am now. As I followed David, this normal boy going to college find that the world has a secret and his landlady is in the center of it. He finds that the clay statue of a dragon, a gift from his landlady, is all that remains of the once proud dragons and has
amazing powers. During his journey he accepts this new reality, but nearly loses his dragon along the way as it cries its tear, which they can only do once as they die. Soon he finds he can write the future only moments before, though he can change the future it acts as predictions. These books become best sellers, and all thanks to Gadzooks his dragon. In the second book, Icefire, he meets a girl who is a sibyl and got G'reth, a wishing dragon the landlord’s daughter made for him, with whom he wishes to learn the secrets of the universe.
His journey to discover the truths lost long ago brings him to the north pole and polar bears. This is continued in the third book, Firestar, as he tries to save the polar bears with his girlfriend. He begins a new story, but his girlfriend doesn’t like the direction it's going and he deletes it, but the story has set things in motion and can’t be stopped. Later a bear attacks him as written in his story leading to the kidnapping of Lucy, the landlord’s daughter and the birth of her son, the first true dragon in millenniums, who then flies away. As the Lucy's great Aunt, a sibyl, tries to raise the last dragon to die on earth, an alien race returns to earth to destroy all dragons, they once
created. Elsewhere, a monk living on an island in America, uses a claw to change reality meets a lost creature, a dragon, which sought the claw of his ancestor and reveals the man to be Lucy's father. The claw then fuses to the dragon’s toe which had been hurt before and Flies north to the resting place of the last dragon. There at the resting place is Lucy and her Aunt awaiting for his return. Latter, both David and the young dragon arrive separately, to meet their fates. A portal to the alien world opens and the dragon enters preventing the destruction of his kind, and David fights the alien who stabs him with a spear of ice, secretly containing the fire tear the alien seeks, and they both sink beneath the ice as they die. The book end when you discover Zanna, his girlfriend, is pregnant. These are the books that got me to love reading with the adventure, mystery, and cliffhangers. That year I got best series reader and third place in AR points having over Two hundred points. For the next two years I continued to get best series reader and was one of the top readers. I only became who I am today because of that book and many of my actions now are influenced by The Last Dragon Chronicles. These books sparked a fire for reading in me that still burns today.
