The Flood I sat in class, the music blaring in my ears. It was very noisy in the classroom, the music was turned up as loud as it could be, there was multiple conversations going on in the background. Sophie and I were sitting on the cold floor of the health room. Burgie sat directly above me on a mat watching a video on how to make yogurt out of only a coconut. Coach Wood was sitting at her desk, she was telling us a story about her son Shep. Just then like a volcano erupting it began. The rain began to beat down on the building, each drop sounding like a spoon continually hitting the side of a glass. July 8, 1982, I murdered my first victim. Her name was Wendy Lee Coffield. She was only 16, just a runaway, probably dropped out of school. I strangled it with it’s own clothes. I dumped the body in the Green River. Like my favored outdoor sexual spots, these were some of the locations I also dumped these objects, what I like to refer to these outcast women as. Also in the Green River was the body of Debra Lynn Bonner, 23, Marcia Faye Chapman, 31, Cynthia Jean Hinds, 17, Opal Charmaine Mills, 16, Tracy Winston, 19.…

Music blared from my cellphone as I folded my laundry. Jeans went in a pile at the end of my bed and shirts were folded in the center. Mom had come home a few hours ago and was napping in her room on the other side of the house, a few walls between us. I heard the front door of our apartment pop open, so I dropped my clothes and ambled out of my room, through the hallway, and into the kitchen.…

The dark of night lay subdued upon me like a stifling blanket, hindering my escape. Running beneath the twinkling of stars, I checked my pocket for the security of my blade. I grasped the handle with a sense of dependence for the cold rigid grip. After running for some time, I found myself near a soldier in a wheat field. Without hesitation, I delivered the soldier to death, beginning my mission. Observing his eyes rolling into his head, his jaw relaxing, his chest resting upon the dirt, and the smell of fresh blood—ha!—I knew I would never turn back. After I had committed my first murder, I became heavily devoted to killing with a bitter taste of sweetness for my homicide tallies. After I had killed my first soldier, I knew to depart far from the scene.…
