October 18th 2003... It was just a normal Saturday night, my friends and I were going to a party, and I had just picked up my best friend Carrie, and her boyfriend Jake. I was driving down the highway to pick up one more friend, Melody, and then we would all go to the party. My phone buzzed. I just grabbed my phone to see who it was, and then all the sudden Carrie was screaming. I looked up, but I couldn't swerve out of the way of the semi truck in time.

I mean here I am, sitting in a wheelchair. Paralyzed. It took me 3 years to regain most of my memory. I still can't remember everything about my life before the crash. Don't make the same mistakes I did. You may think it's cool now to be rebellious and independent, but it's not so cool when you can't remember your what your parents look like. You might be thinking right now that this could never happen to you. I thought the same thing. Did you know that over 1,600,000 accidents are caused, each year, because of people texting while driving? I hope that you will all take a few minutes to think over what I've been talking about.
