Personal Nursing Philosophy Essay
Nursing is a profession where human beings are cared with respect and dignity so the whole being can heal and attain the best quality of life there is. A philosophy is a pursuit of knowledge and wisdom that creates concepts, beliefs, and attitudes towards an activity or phenomenon. In relation to these, a personal nursing philosophy is supposed to be simple but yet complexity arises when being articulated. A nurse has to have a deep conviction to the nursing profession to have a dignified nursing philosophy.

Person is the individual receiving care and may include patient’s family, significant others, relatives, and friends. I personally believe that a person or the patient is the core of the meta-paradigm, so nurses should know how to nurture and empower their patients. Patients should never be treated as just another room number but should be treated as unique individuals with unique needs. Health must be defined according to the patient’s own point of view. One individual’s meaning of being healthy might be different to another individual. Thus, nursing care plan and nursing interventions should be individualized and specific to each patient. Patients should also be able to have an easy access to healthcare for their wellness and wellbeing. Environment is the external and internal factors that impact or influence the overall health of the patient from being sick to full recovery. Nursing is a concept related to the nursing profession.
