Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is and has always been very important in my life. Personal responsibility helps in every area of a person’s life, especially when it comes to education. Personal responsibility leads to greater accomplishments in school, work, and life. The following paragraphs will cover some of the benefits and rewards associated with being self-disciplined and responsible, as well as address my plan for success when it comes to being a successful student.
To understand personal responsibility, we must first define it. Responsibility is the action of being accountable or answerable for one’s own actions. (William Collins Sons and Co, LTD, 2009) Personal responsibility also means that one must be accountable and self-motivated or disciplined. What does it mean to be accountable? Well, to be accountable means that one must take claim for all their actions and the results of those actions. Regardless of the results, whether they are good or bad, it is imperative that people take responsibility of their actions.
When you set out to accomplish something, you should ensure that the work you produce is something of value. You must ask yourself, “Would I be proud of my work?” I was once told that in anything and everything you do, you should be prepared to stand behind the quality of the work you produce. It is very important to be self-disciplined and self-motivated when doing things. This means that you do not need very much, if any at all, outside motivation or encouragement. It means that you will take initiative to accomplish whatever the assigned task is. When you possess this type of work ethic, you become a role model for others to follow.
