Personal Responsibility Essay: First Step to Success

Personal Responsibility Essay People face different challenges everyday and most of them shuffle things around to get things done. Everyone have responsibilities, if it is family, career, school, and even to themselves. Personal responsibility is a critical part of everyone’s day-to-day activities. It means prioritizing and balancing what matter most. It may be different for everyone but at the end of the day, achieving one’s goal is what is important and personal responsibility is the foremost course of action that one might think of. Many will think that personal responsibility is the first step to becoming successful in family, career, and even facing college life. It means answering to oneself and taking full charge and being responsible in any decision that one makes. Most people believe that whatever action he or she takes, a consequence will likely occur if a wrong decision was made. People will tend to be cautious and careful not to offend anyone, and most especially, to protect those they care about, which is family. Personal responsibility will play a vital role in college education. A college student needs to be responsible and need to practice time management to maintain a well-balanced college and family life. Success will rely not only by being hard working but also by being diligent, and most importantly, being focused with personal responsibilities, looking ahead to achieve his or her goals. In an essay titled: ‘Personal Responsibility and College Success’ (2012) by Crystal Swarmer, the author similarly speaks of how Personal Responsibility relates to college education and being successful. The author believes that there are many factors that will drive a person to success in college education while taking personal responsibilities. She discussed how a person should be accountable for his or her success even though surrounded by people like family, instructors, and
