Additional steps I will need to take would be to obtained experience within a healthcare management position before being able to become an administrator.
It would be best to move up within ranks at a facility and learn the daily operations, financial aspects and procedures of the facility. The best way to achieve my goals would be to start as a clinic manager and move up the chain of command. Another great aspect that will help is to obtain my master’s degree after completing my current bachelors program. This could give me the stepping stones needed to achieve my goal within five-year time
frame.
The barriers that I feel that I need to overcome is fear of networking. One of the emphasized aspects of developing a career is networking with those who are in your career goal. I think in order to overcome this barrier I would need to visit medical facilities and possibly intern at one until I am able to gain employment at a lower position.
