Personal Statement: My Educational Goals
My educational goals for next year are to be confident, motivated and ambitious while attending the Principles of Human Nutrition (online) class and the Healthful Living class. I will set goals that are realistic and that will fit in with my busy schedule. I have already started planning on setting aside time for the online class so that I am not distracted by my home life. I will also set aside time for homework and studying for both classes. By planning a schedule now that includes working, personal life and school, I will be prepared and ready to follow my plan and this will enable m e to stay on track especially since I am a very routine oriented person. As long as I have a plan to follow, I know I will follow it with no problem. …show more content…
I hold myself to these high standards because my parents have instilled these values into myself and my brother our whole lives. They have always encouraged us to be independent and never give up. My mother would never let me feel sorry for myself, coddle me or encourage me to just give up on anything just because it was too difficult. I know that I do not want to be an Administrative Assistant for the rest of my life so this will keep me motivated to keep pushing through the difficult times I may have in school. I will remind myself that I can obtain my goals and that anything is possible. I will continue to always think positive thoughts and not have self-doubt. I want this for myself because I need to do what honors me. That is when I am the happiest. I also want this because I truly love helping people learn how to be the healthiest they can be so they can live a long, healthy and happy …show more content…
One way I have overcome these obstacles are by having my boyfriend truly believe in me and encourage me. My family and friends have also been very encouraging and supportive. They helped me realize I can do anything I set my mind to and they have helped gain the confidence that I need to succeed. I also have put up boundaries with people in my life so that I can concentrate on what is important to me. By making time for myself to think about my goals and making plans for those goals, I am able to overcome

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

My professional goal is to become a teacher with hard work and dedication I know I can reach my lifetime goal. For my extra-curricular activities, I have attended the Head Start at Brookhaven Community College where I have volunteered over thirty hours in a semester to get myself prepared for the profession. Going to the local Head Start gave me the opportunity to see if this is really what I want to do for many years. I put myself in a position where I actually enjoyed what I was doing, I had patience which a lot of people don’t have to teach younger kids. I worked with three to five years old, I had to show them I was the leader. In my four years of High School, I have taken my time out to be a leader in my school. I was vice-president freshman…

I’m attending Monterey Peninsula college on a short-term basis Until I transfer to a four year university. Education in my family has never been an option and I have always been pushed to further my education. I myself value my education because it will enhance my knowledge of whatever career I decide to pursue. Learning in general to me has always been important, I love discovering things I’ve never been introduced to or heard of before. I chose to attend MPC to explore my options and figure out what career I want to pursue. One of my short-term education goals is to get good grades in all of my classes this semester (my first semester of college) and to create my ideal career plan. A long-term goal of mine is to complete all of my…

When I found out I was going to be a mother for the first time I had feelings wash over me that I never knew you could feel all at once. Some feelings I suddenly felt I didn't even know existed until that very moment. Sitting there thinking about having a life inside me to care for and love, yet at the same time thinking I am to young, not ready, under educated, and just plain scared to death. All I knew is I wanted nothing more than to have a child that I have waited for, for so long.…

Some people have different goals than others. Some have career goals and some have ordinary job goals and others have school or academic goals. Picking a career is not as easy as it seems. To some people, picking a job based on money or a salary is very important. To others, being happy with a job is more important than money but it is not that easy to just jump in to a field of study and not be happy with it. I picked my career based on my skills and on what I really want to get out of a career. I am an outgoing, friendly and accepting person and am an exuberant lover of life, and people. I enjoy working with others to make things happen and bring common sense and a realistic approach to work and at the same time make work fun. I am flexible and spontaneous and adapt rapidly to new people and new environments. I also learn best by trying new skills with others.…
