University of Miami, Florida State University, and Florida and Agricultural and Mechanical University are all outstanding colleges but the great Bethune-Cookman University caught my attention. Bethune had a great faculty and staff and the people were very friendly when I came to Daytona for orientation. My best friend of eight years, Bethune’s great nursing program, and how God is involved in everything you do on campus is what brought me here.…
As pointed out previously, Huffman Trucking has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. Our huge trucking fleet and large number of employees exceed the usual numbers for a privately held trucking company. The growth of our company has become so significant that we must now face the issue of expanding our business. Even though our expansion can be done in many ways, our financial team has narrowed down our expansion options to becoming a publicly shared company (through an IPO), acquiring another organization in the same industry, or merging our business with another organization. Expanding our company in any of the for-mentioned ways can have many advantages for our owners and employees. In order to determine which expansion…

In my Sigma Chi career, the most contribution I've made is owning every position that I've held. Up until my term, no one had ever done anything with the positions of Tribune/Public Relations. In my tenure, I started a bi monthly alumni newsletter, and completely redesigned our website. We were able to better involve alumni in chapter operations as well as increased our web traffic six-fold. In Quaestor, I was able to redesign how we operated collections from brothers. With this we were able to utilize apps on phones for brothers to pay dues and other chapter expenses, this led to high collection rates and the ability to pay off a $8,100 RMF bill in one semester, all the while staying in budget constraints; this had never been done before.…
Another reason I applied to UCF is "tradition". Ever since my family moved here from New York in 1995 I have witnessed firsthand the growth and transformation of UCF. Driving in the car down University Blvd with the gold and black banners hanging from the lampposts alerts you that you are entering the home of the Knights. From the alumni with their car flags to the students walking around the local malls in their UCF apparel, everyone is proud to be a "Knight". One of the biggest traditions at UCF is called the "Spirit Splash". This is a tradition that takes place during homecoming week and is one of the only times during the year that students, alumni, teachers, local residents and even pets can wade in the reflection pond on campus. Events like these "unite" a large university and make it seem like we all share something together.…
My perspectives of life and morality will allow me to contribute to Liberty University’s missions in a number of ways. I see my purpose in life as merely a chance to change lives and to obey the calling that God places on my heart. I believe it is my jobs as a child of God to be the hands and feet of Christ no matter where that takes me. As a pastor’s daughter, I have been taught the perspectives of life and morality and how they reflect the way I live my life. I keep my perceptions of life and morality positive so I am assured my light for Christ is never mistaken or never overlooked. These perspectives will allow me to contribute a lot towards Liberty University’s missions and will allow God to use me for the advantage of His glory.…
The Coast Guard Academy is my primary choice for college right after high school because of its excellence in higher education. If accepted into the Academy, I expect the four years of being a cadet to be very rigorous and challenging. I know that the Academy is not for everyone, but I know deep in my heart that this is for me. Ever since I was a kid, I have known my father to be a very brave and courageous police officer serving in the LAPD. He has really inspired me to be like him and I know that the Academy has so much to offer and if given the privilege of attending there, I would learn to become a great leader and meet many incredible people along the way who could guide me. When I heard about the Coast Guard Academy, all I could think about was what I could do to increase my chances of getting in. I’ve constantly been on the Coast Guard Academy website going through things over and over again. I’ve been through the entire website countless of times learning things each and every time. During the summer, I had the privilege of being able to attend the AIM program and I was completely blown away by it. At first it seemed very difficult because of the Cadres, but after getting to know each and every one of them, they turned out to be really amazing people and after just one week, I knew that the program had only made me want to attend the Academy even more. After coming back from AIM, I studied the booklet we were given day and night memorizing everything in it. Ever since then, I’ve had the Mission of the United States Coast Guard Academy engraved in my heart and mind. After coming back from AIM, I also learned how very physically demanding it was. The weather can be especially hot and since the day I’ve come back from AIM, I’ve trained vigorously every week to improve my physical strength by doing burp bees, push ups, mile runs, squats, and most importantly eating healthy to improve my body’s physical condition.…
For many college athletes, the lure of playing pro sports is intoxicating. Dreams of fancy cars, luxurious homes, tailor-made suits, voluptuous women, and the mental images of a crowded stadium chanting their name is enough for any collegiate athlete to think about abandoning their education for a chance at stardom. When the dreams are solidified with million dollar contracts, think immediately is replaced by impulse. Left behind in the frenzy is the much needed college education that no one seems to care about any more. An athletes only hope is to complete a college education first for what life's lessons has to offer later when hard-knocks is the final exam.…
I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…
The first half and last two words of Santa Clara University’s strategic vision are very much so appealing. The vision speaks about educating people of, “competence, conscience, and compassion”. These very three words to me encompass the entirety of a successful individual. First, one needs to have a level of competence, which in return builds good confidence, a vital trait for success. A good citizen must also have a conscience, to have the ability to distinguish the right from the wrong and to make just decisions off of the circumstances presented. Lastly, a fine leader must have compassion. This trait, among the other two, stands out the most to me. Certainly, competence and conscience are most important, but compassion is a trait that is…
To believe in the strength and value of community colleges is to recognize that the community school is as vital and remains purposely driven today, as when they began more than one hundred years ago- before self-driving cars, smartboards, on-line courses, etc. These community based institutions fundamentally serve as a foundation and core to the planning and building of one’s unlimited educational possibilities.…
After climbing through the financial aid and admissions process, I am proud to confidently say that I will be attending Portland State University (PSU) in Fall 2017. Being a first generation student, this promise of a better future is an accomplishment not only for me, but for my parents. Being accepted in the TRIO-SSS program will help me climb over the battles yet to come. I hope that this program will assist me with guidance in my major, test strategies, and information for available opportunities.…
My time at the community college was used to focus on building a strong academic foundation, specifically tutoring international students English every week as they tried to maneuver through their lives in the United States. I remember during one particular session, a Chinese exchange student told me that when she first arrived in Seattle, she was in a state of euphoria. However, her inability to communicate fluently with her peers hindered her from adapting to the customs in America. Consequently, it impeded her from making her own place in society. Another individual, who emigrated from Eritrea, confessed she was still unfamiliar with having additional resources at her fingertips. She grew up in an area where advanced technological tools,…
I could go anywhere for college! I could have gone to the University of Arizona, or UC Irvine, or even New York University, but no I chose to go to Arizona State University because I want to stay near you mom! I picked to go to Arizona State University because it’s known for engineering, and I have decided to major in Chemical Engineering and minor in business. During my time at ASU, I will be living in the dorms and renting out apartments, and paying for my fees through scholarships and my college fund. I am also able to get in-state tuition, but most importantly I chose ASU because I’ll be able to stay close to my mom. While I could have gone to any college, I am choosing to go to ASU because there are many benefits for me and going to ASU…
