Young people are more eager to try new things that will give them a feeling unlike one they have experienced before, in other words a high. If smoked it has a different effect on the body than it does if you use it for medical reasons. Cannabis oil which is concentrated cannabis extracts is becoming a popular medicine for patients with cancer, glaucoma, and seizures. ¨Evidence has shown cannabinoids to be capable, under some conditions, of inhibiting the development of cancer cells¨ (Hazekamp). Cannabis oil isn't smoked, it is in an oil form which does not cause lung problems in the future. People taking cannabis oil are not using it for the high, they use it to “cure” or to help slow down their diagnosis. Taking cannabis oil doesn’t necessarily help the diagnosis either but in some situations it helps to gain your appetite back, it helps the person to sleep, and it also helps prevent being nauseous (Hazekamp). If given to children in states where it is illegal the parents can get in trouble and even have their children taken away. Many states look at the negative effects it has on the body by smoking it. However they haven’t looked at the positive effects it has on the body through the cannabis oil (Hazekamp).…

Marijuana has become a big issue in today’s healthcare settings because even though healthcare professionals find it right that their patients use medical marijuana not all people find it appropriate. In my position I am for the fact that it’s much more effective to use medical marijuana than any prescription that is prescribed to a patient. Then with the whole point of medical marijuana being used by many patients there is laws that apply to the situation which at times I find it not fair under some circumstances. Ethics and professional codes of conduct impact medical marijuana because at times the two morals do not go with each other. As we all should also know is that a patients’ rights to privacy and confidentiality is very important in healthcare and if not met can include consequences for the medical professional that did not meet the standards.…

The more dangerous an activity the more illegal and higher punishment, lesser activities are either not illegal or endorsed. Marijuana illegality defies this rational thinking in that it is less detrimental than alcohol and cigarettes and yet is treated far worse. Most pharmaceutical drugs can kill if used improperly, like alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana has been illegal since 1937. The Marijuana Tax Act, enforced because people believe men of color would solicit sex from white women while under the influence of marijuana. According to multiple tests and the statistics more people have died from cigarettes and alcohol. Marijuana should be legal due to the shear fact that it is safer than alcohol and cigarettes. While politics is the obvious example for bias, another area of debate that is heavily opinionated is the field dealing with medical and recreational marijuana. This can be seen in an article by Fox News in which Dr. David Samadi stated that a study claiming marijuana is 114 times less harmful than alcohol is “a very deceiving and flawed study” (Fox 1). Right off the bat the fact that…

Beginning with one of the first solutions to reduce jail or prison overcrowding could be something as simple as just modernizing our laws. A very common law that can land a lot of people in jail is possession of marijuana. Police officers can make up to 1 possession of marijuana arrest every 37 seconds in the United States according to some research done by the American civil liberties Union(ACLU). During the past few decades, marijuana legalization has been on the rise, with already four states in the union who have legalized the use of cannabis. We can only hope that the rest of the nation follows the example and cease wasting taxpayers dollars on a never-ending battle. Another research you will find that for federal…
